Hurricane Sally is gone, but the cleanup work is just beginning. Chances are, that your landscape doesn't look much like it did before the storm. The fact is, we need trees in our landscape but like most of us, trees caused major problems during the storm. Here are a few things you can do to your landscape to prevent further damage in the future:
1. Plant wind resistant trees. Live oaks have high survival rates after hurricanes.
2. Plant in groups or masses. Planting groups of mixed trees together can greatly enhance wind resistance. The trees buffer each other as well as help protect property and other plants.
3. Right Plant, Right Place. This is something we bring up regularly here at Sexton and something we believe is vital to your landscape. Choose trees that are well suited for your landscape. Plant larger trees away from your home, power lines, and structures. This reduces risk of branches or trees from falling on your home.

What Is Lichen & How Is It Treated?
Lichen is a unique organism and a symbiotic relationship between two organisms, fungus and algae. While lichen is harmless to a tree, it can be unsightly and keep the tree from producing foliage. Lichen can be treated with copper sulfate once the plant has gone into dormancy in the cooler months. If you have a struggling tree and would like treatment, please let us know.

Another fantastic landscape lighting project completed by our team. This particular project is not only aesthetically pleasing, but also highly functional. With exception for lamp posts and the pendant light on the porch there was no lighting available in this area which is also shaded. We installed horizontally mounted “bullet” lights to illuminate the steps, flood lights to shine up in the vault of the ceiling on the porch and additional “bullet” lights as up-lights in the corners of the wall buttresses. The ambiance provided in the area is greatly improved.
This project is yet another example that landscape lighting is one of the best ways to improve your landscape.

Sexton is always hiring and right now we are opening up NEW production crews within our maintenance department to cover our rapid growth. Our design and sales teams are crushing it and our production team is having to ramp up again to answer to call and to keep our promises to our AWESOME customers.
We currently have 10 maintenance crews and need to add an 11th.

Must have experience with landscape equipment and know how to operate and maintain equipment. Attendance is a MUST in this position.
