Dr Shannon R. Carpenter, MD, is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon with Ortho KC Medical Group in Kansas City, Kan. Affiliated with Overland Park Regional Medical Center, Dr. Carpenter specializes in shoulder and elbow orthopedic conditions and utilizes modern surgical methods such as shoulder and elbow arthroscopy, minimally invasive shoulder replacements, cartilage restoration and regenerative medicine. She treats all general orthopedic conditions with specific expertise in non-operative and arthroscopic treatment of rotator cuff injuries, shoulder arthritis treatment with anatomic prostheses, upper extremity trauma, dislocations and fractures in pediatric and adult populations, sports related injuries and work related injuries. Dr. Carpenter is fully committed to partnering with patients and referring physicians to determine the optimum outcomes for those with orthopedic issues. During her training, Dr. Carpenter performed in a variety of mentoring and leadership roles and has been an active presenter of professional papers and posters. She has completed numerous research projects and grant studies within her field, activities which contribute to her knowledge and expertise in the latest orthopedic treatments and procedures. Dr. Carpenter is an AOA Emerging Leader and member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Orthopaedic Trauma Association, Mid-America Orthopaedic Society and the American Medical Association. Dr. Carpenter earned her fellowship for Shoulder and Elbow while at Medstar Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland.
