Dr. Shannon Smith is the medical director and founder of Cataract, Glaucoma & Retina Consultants of East Texas and Medical Arts Surgery Center in Nacogdoches, Texas. She is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American College of Surgeons and the Texas Surgical Society. She is a member of her local county, state and the American Medical Associations. She is a summa cum laude graduate of the School of Architecture at the University of Texas in Arlington. She received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston. She completed post-doctoral residency training in Ophthalmology there, and fellowship training in Ophthalmic Pathology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, as well as fellowship training in Glaucoma with internationally recognized, leading glaucoma surgeons John Lynn, M.D., Ronald Fellman, M.D. and Richard Starita, M.D. at Glaucoma Associates of Texas in Dallas.
