“Choose Happy!” —That expression reads differently for everyone. For me, it means that I am going to make choices for myself to constantly be better. I made that choice when I decided to be physically active. In my undergraduate time at Georgia State University, I was diagnosed with depression. From that time on, I struggled with how I was going to maintain my happiness, or at least minimize my sadness.
One of my solutions that I found to aid depression was choosing to better my physical activity. Depression is a monster that you never knew to fear; it can paralyze and make you feel like happiness is a distant and forgotten memory. And when depressed, sometimes your choices don’t feel like your own. But it’s the small choices that you still have the opportunity to make and can have the biggest impact on your life.
My journey to increasing my physical activity started off as going to the gym. Shortly after I started, I quickly realized that wasn’t where I found my joy. After some exploring, I found happiness in hiking and being surrounded by nature. By enjoying what nature has to offer, I also discovered hiking is where my spirit could be replenished.
But hiking wasn’t always solution. Extreme weather and costly drives make hiking a hard last minute recluse of joy. I then found that there were ways I could remain active inside, and still give my spirit the rejuvenation it deserved. That started off as barre classes, and now I have transitioned to Shape Up Kickboxing. For the past three weeks, I have had somewhere to increase my heart rate and decrease my stress to make my body and my mind better.
Wake up. Crush the day with satisfaction. Go to bed. Repeat!

As the weather is starting to cool down, it's important to have a workout plan that's not affected by it.
This is where kickboxing comes in handy! It's indoors all year round, and you can always count on having an AWESOME workout everytime! Plus, it's a fun way to get in shape, while crushing your fitness goals!
Don't just try to survive Monday. Make the best of it! What can you do today that yourself will thank you for later?

🍍Saturday Health Tip: Keep healthy snacks on hand at all times! 🍍
As you're going out this weekend to restock the fridge and pantry, stock up on healthy snacks that you can keep on hand, in your car, purse, jacket pockets, etc.
Snacking is always tempting and can undo your health progress if filling up and overeating on the wrong foods. By having a game plan active to combat those snacky moods, being prepared is a way to be proactive in the healthy lifestyle desired.
Find your tribe, and love them hard!
The people who kickbox here are just like you! They're working hard to live healthier, to crush goals, and to not skip their workouts. They also like having fun!

Hydration is key for keeping the body happy! It's important to consume enough because our cells, tissues, and organs need it to function properly. When we don't hydrate enough, our bodies suffer. Water is also great because it's filled with several nutrients that we need, and it has so many benefits!
