Baby Saybie was officially featured in the Guiness Book of World Records! “I’ve attended the births of many micropreemies over the years, but Saybie’s birth was definitely unique," says Dr. Paul Wozniak, physician at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital. "Based on her gestational age (23 weeks + 3 days) and, more importantly, her incredibly small size at birth, her prognosis was bleak, and we weren’t sure she would survive." Last year, Saybie was born at Sharp Mary Birch. She was too small to register weight on the in-bed scale and after being transferred to the NICU, she was weighed on an old-fashioned scale at only 245 grams, or 8.6 ounces. "It’s been an honor to have been a part of Saybie’s care team, and to have the privilege to watch her grow, thrive, and exceed all expectations," says Dr. Wozniak. "Saybie and her parents became, and will always be, part of our Sharp Mary Birch NICU family." Heart health is especially important for pregnant women, as diet and exercise directly connect with the health of their baby's heart. Some easy ways to protect your heart during pregnancy, is regular exercise and altering your diet to lower consumption of caffeine and sodium. Also, making sure to eat whole grains, lean proteins and leafy greens.
