Meet our #PetoftheMonth, Dolphin!🐶
She is a senior terrier mix, we honestly don’t know what she mixed with. Dolphin might be a senior but still has plenty of energy to spare. We estimate her around 7-8 years old, around 60 pounds, she is Heartworm negative, already spayed, and up to date on her core vaccines.
Since Douglas County Animal Shelter is still closed to the public; we have started our virtual adoptions. Anyone who is interested in adopting will need to fill out an online application first (link listed below) and then will be sent an email back setting up a time for meet and greets. If you have another dog you must bring them to the meet and greet as well. Meet and greets will be held in our Shelter Courtyard, masks are required. He is an Anatolian Shepherd mix, he is approximately 1- 2 years old, neutered, up to date on his core vaccines, will have a lifelong registered microchip. Handsome, however, is heartworm positive but don’t let that stop you from adopting him! The Douglas County Humane Society will pay up to $300 in helping assist treatments!
Handsome is a large breed dog! He is a goofy boy who was very scared when he first arrived at our facility on September 4th but now, he has come out of his shell and showing his personality! We have yet to find his original owners after he was turned into us as a stray, therefore he is now adoption available!

Wayde is an unaltered, Border Collie / Lab mix, around 1-2 years old. He has had his DAPP, Bordetella Vaccines, and a dewormer and flea treatment. He will also have a life long registered microchip.
Wayde was brought into the facility as a stray that a citizen turned in on November 6th. When he came in he was very scared and timid, but now he is the biggest goofball who loves to cuddle.
When he is out in the courtyard, he loves to follow people around and be a shadow, which is part of the Collie in him!

Meet our #PetoftheMonth, Buddy!
This scared young pup has been in the shelter’s care since December 16th. Buddy was originally found wandering in a subdivision. A citizen then brought him into their home for a night before turning him in to us. Unfortunately, Buddy cannot tell us how he got here, he can't tell us that he lost his family or his family lost him. All he can tell us is that being in the shelter is terrifying, even though the staff does all they can to make it comfortable. Buddy has met a few friends here in our care, not only shelter staff and volunteers but some other doggie friends.

Suzzy was a stray that came to the shelter back on December 1, 2020. She is a beautiful lab mix, around 4-5 years old. Suzzy is spayed, heartworm negative, microchipped, and up to date on her core vaccines.
Suzzy loves being out in the yard playing with her doggy friends and volunteers. When she is not out with her friends she does love to snuggle up and receive lots of belly rubs.
