Remember that during the hot summer Las Vegas months you should NOT put down any fertilizer on your lawn, shrubs, or trees. Doing so can damage your landscape. Even if they are looking stressed, fertilizer is not the solution, as it will likely burn them. The best bet is to make sure you are watering properly, and hold on until fall. This past summer we lost a lot of the Japanese Blueberry trees that we planted – far more than usual. We are now in the process of warrantying them all. Because of the large number, and after discussing the issue with several certified arborists, we are modifying the way we plant Japanese Blueberries. Our new procedure follows: 1. After digging and flooding the planting hole for 24 hours apply 2 cups of Moon Valley Landscape Soil Conditioner, sprinkled throughout the bottom of the planting hole. 2. Mix 1 cup of the Soil Conditioner throughout the backfill material. 3. Install 2-3 perforated stand pipes in the planting hole. 4. After placing the tree in place and backfilling, pour 1 cup of Moon Valley Moon Juice on top of the rootball. We’re hoping these changes will reduce our warranty costs next summer. We’ll let you know if we see improvement…
