It’s wonderfully cold outside! But only trace amounts of snow remain on the ground. Come on Mother Nature, turn on your snowmaking machines … we want to go play. Ski Brule is ready
Looking at the slopes this morning ... pretty even without the snow.
Covid Update: Cases of COVID have increased in the Upper peninsula resulting in a health department order which prohibits anyone from entering the Brule Lodge because places of gathering are not allowed. Restaurants and bars in Upper Michigan are restricted to take out only. These orders are valid through mid December and depending on the U.P. covid numbers, it may or may not be extended. Prayers for decrease in cases so that we can get moving towards the slopes.

Did you know there was a ski jump in Caspian ?? It was just minutes from Ski Brule and is used today for tubing.
Caspian developed a plan for a ski slide in Nov, 1937. The Ski Slide opened about Jan 16, 1940. A dedication was held about Feb 8, 1942. It hosted several ski jumping competitions over time. To the right of the Slide (Pix 1) is the viewing/judging shack and above it is Stambaugh. The schools are visible. Pix 2 shows the jump from the bottom of the hill (the writing is my Mom's). Pix 3 shows the view from near the top of the hill with the Caspian Mine shaft visible. Pix 4 is a summer-time view of the hill from the bottom. The slide was dismantled in 1957-58 and moved to Crystella Ski Hill (CF). All that was left were some concrete supports that held the scaffolding. Thank you for this information and photos Bill!

Peaceful quiet of the new fallen snow.... is NOT what I’m wishing I was hearing.
I miss the roar of Big Bear Chairlift, the hum of the groomers hard at work, the smiles and hugs from our friends as they arrive, the non stop fast pace of holiday business, children’s wide smiles as they tell tales of their day on snow... I miss the true Brule Country experience.
This all will return and I look forward to it. Until then, do your snow dance and keep your fingers crossed that we get lots of snow tonight so we are one step closer to ripping up the slopes. #skibrule #snow

Upper-level ridge early this week will keep highs in the upper 20s into 30s. A weak wave of energy moves in today through tomorrow leading to a few scattered snow showers along northerly wind belts. Then, a system moves in on Thursday. It will bring widespread accumulating wet heavy snow. Lake effect snow takes over on Friday as arctic air surges in. Frigid conditions linger through the weekend as temperatures stay well below normal.
