“[My son] was so excited that we could watch him get his shot again on the Ring camera!” A local family who has been quarantining since March reached out to their community pharmacy to see if they, their 4-year-old, and parents could get their flu shots outside of their home. January 1, 2020 at 12:30 AM · Schwenksville, PA · We usually go to CVS but they couldn’t fill Lucas’s compound prescription. So we had to look for a pharmacy that could and so glad I did. Today the pharmacist called from Skippack Pharmacy to let us know he could mix the prescription tonight. I told him we can come in a few days because we were too tired to go tonight. He offered to personally deliver it to us on NYE before he heads into the city. I was already thankful but when he arrived and dressed in a Superman outfit because he knew we had children , I felt extra thankful. What an amazing way to end the year. Meet our new superstar intern, future pharmacist, Isabelle. At the end of the shift today, her father came to take her out for coffee & when he walked in, she innocently asked, “Dad, can you get a flu shot?” Without hesitation, he said “How can I ever say no to you?” Like a SuperDad, he smiled watching his daughter assist our pharmacist before & after getting the flu shot. She prepped him & then gave her favorite superhero a Batman bandaid for being brave...the exchange ended with a hug. Mr. L, you truly are a #GirlDad and our team & community are excited and thankful to have those qualities in your daughter as we continue to prepare for the COVID vaccine. If you know about the story of Skippack you’ve likely seen Ms. Bonnie and her loving partner, Al, who’ve helped bring back the pharmacy to life. Seen here is the couple volunteering for a food distribution drive with Manna on Main Street last year. They’ve always been the first to give and help and always gave their hearts to help the community and now need some help. Al, recently got a new kidney; however, the new kidney isn’t working without assistance requiring him to stay at the hospital with Bonnie by his side. One year ago on March 7, 2020; Montgomery County was shaken when the first case of COVID-19 was reported. February 7, 2021; our first mass immunization clinic brought together 1000 patients in the community, 100 volunteers with the heart to give back---snow was not going to cancel the moment people were waiting for a long time. It's the story of the people who have spent thousands of hours by my side when a vaccine our community needed, came our way. It would be dishonest to say the work is nearly done. We have hundreds of thousands of community members that still are waiting for vaccines & our team at Skippack Pharmacy along with our COVID Task Force will give their 110% to make sure we keep things moving and get vaccines into more arms. While dressed in costume to cheer up those around me, I'm reminded by my Guru's words to be a "das" (servant) and to selflessly serve those around me. It was our first clinic at North Penn High School and the first time we were going to be administering this many vaccines but when you put your trust in local and a community backs them, magic happens.
