I don’t know where to begin on this, but here are some thoughts: 🔹This lovely patient presented with pain on a back tooth, after we addressed this emergency we did a comprehensive evaluation where we discovered the extent of damage to the rest of her teeth❗️ 🔹 Etiology “what led to this” , whenever I see a problem, I don’t only think how can I treat it, but I have to find out what are the causing factors that led to this. This way, if we prevent the cause from reoccurring, then the chances of my treatment plan being successful are that much higher. In this patient’s case, her oral hygiene was impeccable. I wish all my patients brushed 2 times a day and flossed daily😉 Trust me we know and we can tell. ▫️Patients: Like anything in life there are different levels of quality. So a veneer in one office is not equal to a veneer at another. Please keep in mind, who is doing the work, what kind of experience and training they obtained to perform such procedures, what materials and labs they use, how much time they will spend doing such treatments and finally how can you have easy access to follow ups to make sure your case has a great success for many years to come💯 ▫️To my colleagues and mentees: “ You don’t know what you don’t know.” In this patient’s case the complexity was at a higher level than the dentistry that was provided❗️There is no way that I could have handled such a case when I was fresh out of dental school. I understand the desire to help someone achieve a beautiful smile and change their lives for the better, but know your limitations, educate yourself, specialize in the area that interests you most, invest time and money to get better. Do all of that and success is going to be yours. I learned so much through the years from my failures, and I keep trying to get better. I can’t wait for my next CE class in June @koiscenter and to my next teaching commitment with @usdsa to share my 2 cents and learn more🤓 🔹I will write a clinical post about this case at a later date, there are many interesting factors , but in the meantime my patient is very pleased with the outcome and she can’t stop smiling🙏🏼 P.S Yes Sinatra was always blasting 🎶😊
