Avulsion is a complete displacement of a tooth out of its socket, and is one of the most serious of dental injuries. It is definitely one of the parent’s nightmares.
This is a case of an avulsed permanent front tooth of a 7 y.o little girl. We performed a replantation of the tooth with splints to immobilize the traumatized tooth.

If your child’s tooth is avulsed, and it’s a permanent tooth, make sure to find it, pick it up by the crown, avoid touching the root; immediately place it in a suitable medium and call the dentist. The prognosis of the tooth, if it can be saved, is dependent of time of how long the tooth has been outside of the mouth. Suitable medium can be a cup of milk, or store-bought Save a Tooth solution for knocked out teeth. Never place it in water!
