Smith & Sons Machine recently purchased and received a new enclosed CNC milling machine with a 15 tool indexer from Southwestern Industries.
This machine will allow us to complete more complex parts with tighter tolerances at faster speeds than our other machines.

This bearing cap was fabricated to replace a damaged bearing cap from an elevator drive assembly.
Turning a commutator in place
This week we were called by an elevator contractor to repair a worn/burned commutator on an elevator drive motor in Boston. Due to the size of the machine. Removing the armature and bringing it to the shop to be machined in a lathe was not an option. We rigged up a small motor to drive the armature and turn the commutator in place.

This week a customer brought in a damaged truck Axle for repair. We removed the damaged end, Bored the Axle, fabricated a replacement end then welded the new end into the Axle
