Smruti Mohanty MD, MS, FACP, is a hepatologist and gastroenterologist who serves as a director of the center for liver disease and chief of the division of gastroenterology at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.
Dr. Mohanty specializes in transplant surgery and is board certified in internal medicine, gastroenterology and hepatology. He has extensive experience in clinical care, evaluation and management of adults with gastrointestinal and liver diseases, and a clinical focus in treating acute and chronic liver disease, including cirrhosis of the liver. Dr. Mohanty also evaluates patients for liver transplantation and provides clinical care for post-liver transplant patients.
After completing his masters's degree in community health from Minnesota State University, Dr. Mohanty earned his medical degree from Utkal University in India and served his internal medicine residency at Texas A&M Health Science Center. He completed his fellowship training in gastroenterology at the university of California San Diego Health and University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
