Snows Auto Interior Restoration began with two friends, a partnership, and a basis for learning.
Doug Snow began his career in the auto interior repair industry in 1980 when a good friend of his got him involved in the business. Doug's friend came from a long line of auto interior repairers going beginning in the sixties. Doug's friend was colorblind and needed a partner who could aid him in choosing the correct colors, as well as the creation of the colors themselves. Because of this colorblindness, Doug's friend could not teach him how to make the colors, so, Doug decided to teach himself. The first color Doug created took him about a day and a half and he only made about 6 ounces of dye. During this trial and error of making these colors, Doug threw away over 2 gallons of dye, as he was using outdated methods and self-taught color matching. After this first endeavor, Doug threw himself in the art of making colors and dyes and even created a tool known as the "Snowshoe", which is an iron that mounts onto a butane torch, eliminating the need for electricity. This jumpstarted Doug's career in the auto interior repair industry and he even began teaching others how to mix and create dyes in more efficient ways, using his "Snowshoe".
Today, Doug is still teaching classes for suppliers and other types of companies. Doug finds teaching very rewarding, picking up different techniques from his students and using them in his own work with Snows Auto Interior Restoration.
