Protect yourself from Medicare fraud. Guard your Medicare card like it’s a credit card. Remember:
Medicare will never contact you for your Medicare Number or other personal information unless you’ve given them permission in advance.
Medicare will never call you to sell you anything.
You may get calls from people promising you things if you give them a Medicare Number. Don’t do it.
Medicare will never visit you at your home.
Medicare can’t enroll you over the phone unless you called first.
I copied this directly from the Medicare site. There are new scams concerning the covad 19 virus. Don't give out your medicare number or ssn over the phone or on the internet to anyone who claims to be selling masks, hand sanitizer or any kind of medical equipment to help with the covad virus.
Got a text message from a scammer that said my facebook account was suspended for not following the rules or some such thing. The website I was supposed to go to was totally bogus and it was definitely a scam fishing for personal information. Facebook is still working obviously and I am again posting a warning about scammers. I just don't know how they got my cell number.
There is another phone scam going around don't let it scare you. The caller claims to be from Social Security and says your account has been compromised and your payments will cease unless you give them all your personal information. One also claimed that there was a warrant out for your arrest for drug trafficking. Your ID was found in a car in Texas that had drugs in it and if you give the caller all your money it will be fixed for you. Your family will be attacked if you call the police etc etc. THIS IS A SCAM HANG UP!!!! The SSA will never call you on the phone. If there was a warrant out for your arrest someone will be knocking your door down. They won't be calling first.
I can't talk about this too much. There are many computer scams both on the internet and through phone calls. Please, be aware that no legitimate company will call you on the phone and tell you your computer is infected. These are scams!!! No legitimate company will hijack internet links and replace the code with warnings that your computer is infected. These are scams. No legitimate company will email you and request your personal information to verify an account of any kind. These are scams. Never let anyone into your computer remotely to fix problems that don't exist. The problems that are being reported are invented by the scammers. And never but never give out your bank account information to anyone who approaches you in this way to fix non-existant problems on your computer. Clients have stood in my shop and cried because they lost hundreds of dollars to these scammers. You can buy a new computer with the money that you give to these people. If you believe you have a problem in your computer, take it to a local repair shop. There are several in Kitsap county and throughout the state. Do not become a victim to these scammers.
