Christmas Eve was filled with associate visits, resident smiles and caring presents. Our residents enjoyed holiday care packages, delicious traditional treats and homemade cards from many volunteers sending their love this year.
We took some time to spread holiday cheer and show our appreciation for all of our Solstice at East Amherst associates with a socially-distanced luncheon! Their dedication to keeping our residents safe, happy and engaged throughout this year has been incredible. We hosted a gift raffle and catered meal for our team and a few families even provided some fun, delicious gifts for our raffle and helped pay for part of the meals. A huge thank you to all who were involved!

Solstice at East Amherst was thrilled to sponsor this week’s Network in Aging of WNY virtual event. Our team put together and handed out wine bags to attendees before the virtual event began. The bags included three wines from New York and a beautiful charcuterie board created by a locally owned company.
All participants were given time to pitch their company’s role within the industry.
Yesterday we helped plan, organize and throw a virtual wine tasting event for the Network in Aging of WNY .
The Network in Aging has over 400 members who are all involved in elder care in WNY. The event included locally grown and produced wines paired with local charcuterie. Guests were able to pick up Solstice bags full of goodies in our model room and learn more about Solstice at East Amherst along the way!

We are excited to share that yesterday was our first of two vaccine clinics with Buffalo Pharmacies! The clinic ran smoothly, and we will be receiving the second dose April 1. All of our residents were properly observed and finished the 15-minute follow-up flawlessly!
We held a Knock out COVID-themed after-party and took photos to share with family and friends. We are so grateful to our partners at Buffalo Pharmacy for helping us with this much anticipated clinic. Be on the lookout for our new post-vaccine policies and procedures!

We are so excited to welcome our new resident, Louise! Louise has been living in Texas and just recently moved back to Buffalo, N.Y. For most of her career, she worked at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in the physical therapy department, and she is excited to have a comfortable new home to relax in. Welcome, Louise!

It’s only March; but it was 70 degrees here in Buffalo, N.Y., today! Vitamin D brought big smiles to our residents’ faces.
We celebrated International Women’s Day surrounded by the strong, caring and loving women in our community!
Our community spent the afternoon extending our deep gratitude to the heroes in our rehab centers and hospitals that take such good care of our residents. We presented them with hero cookies that made their day!
Thank you to all the health care heroes out there working during this challenging time and ensuring that all of our residents get the best service possible.
Spring is right around the corner! Our residents have been walking around our community to get some fresh air and sunshine that we’ve missed so much this winter. These residents and best friends get to enjoy each other’s company with a nice socially-distance stroll outside. Exercising our minds and bodies brings our community joy!

“Reunited and it feels so good” was the theme last week at Solstice at East Amherst. Bob and Michele, who haven’t seen each other in eight months and are now fully vaccinated. There’s nothing like the love of a father and daughter!
Following music therapy Friday morning, we had an exercise class run by our executive director. There was fun music, which made for a great start to the weekend!
Please help us extend a warm welcome to our newest resident, Michael! Michael is an avid bills fan along with many other of our residents here. Michael was accompanied by his big, loving family and they are excited to see Michael thrive in his new supportive environment!
