The name SomaSense is derived from my fundamental belief that optimum health can be achieved by truly connecting the mind's awareness with the body's sensations. The word soma is Greek for "the living body". Somatics is an approach used by bodyworkers and psychologist in which the physical and emotional experiences of the living being are the main tool for learning about the present body. While the body-mind connection affects us daily, we don't always recognize its impact on us. Challenges arise and become embodied when we try to segregate our mind and body into specific categories that don't interact. The mind and body are a network that work together for us to function optimally. In fact, even small amounts of physical stress affect our mental health. And our mental health also affects our physical health. By receiving mindfulness bodywork, the patient can create a space for healing that is omni-dimensional.
