Tinkerfest was a great success today. As always, the car take-apart was the busiest event and we were happy to participate. Many thanks to our dismantler, Hope Rogers, for devoting her day to spend with the kids. Thank you to the Museum of Discovery for helping kids learn and expand their knowledge of how things work.

We offer Texas and all the other States enduring the freezing polar vortex our thoughts and prayers. Fossil fuels, namely natural gas and coal, are keeping heat and power going, protecting people's lives. Wind turbines are frozen, and solar generation is down to nothing when the sun isn't shining. Thank God for natural gas. God bless our oil, gas, and coal companies and their incredible employees.

Shipping Chevy Vegas by the Southern Pacific Railroad from the factory in the 1970s.
In order to be able to travel nose-down without leaking fluids all over the railcar (and onto the tracks), the Vega’s engineers had to design a special engine oil baffle to prevent oil from entering the No. 1 cylinder of the car’s inline-four engine. Batteries had filler caps located high up on the rear edge of the case to prevent acid spills. The carburetor float bowl had a special tube that drained gasoline into the vapor canister during shipment, and the windshield washer bottle stood at a 45 degree angle. Plastic spacers were wedged between the powertrain and chassis to prevent damage to engine and transmission mounts. The wedges were removed when cars were unloaded. The doors were closed with a forklift tractor

2. Identifying and pulling correct parts on the yard
3. Ensuring the parts are the quality required for the customer
4. Prepping parts for pickup, delivery, and shipping
5. Keeping work ordered jobs updated in computer
6. Work with other employees to complete orders
7. Maintain a positive attitude
8. Keep yard picked up as you work
You must able to work neatly, safely, without damaging parts, have minimum required tools, be able to lift at least 75lbs, and be able to perform physically demanding work. You must be able to tolerate both high and low temperatures. In this job, employees will be walking, standing, working outdoors, and will be exposed to moderately loud noise levels from time to time. Eye and ear protection are provided. Automotive knowledge and basic computer skills are a must.

We will be selling tickets for the day of the show, $10 dollars a ticket. They will aslo have some of their other favorites there as well.
