Ladies if you are pregnant or know someone that is pregnant please encourage them to seek treatment post partum. Health care is now recognizing pregnancy as 4 trimesters. Birthing a baby whether natural or c-section is traumatic to the pelvic floor. The changes in the moms body both physically and emotionally are huge. No women should return to exercise without having their pelvic floor evaluated and treated. Treatment, especially a myofascail release approach helps to decrease pelvic pain,closes diastasis recti,reduce prolapses and restores the alignment of the pelvis. It also helps with milk production, breast feeding and lactation issues. So please spread the word, women need to be cared for for the 3 months following birth. Now let’s add some strengthening to the back side of the body. That we have been opening all week. Lie on your belly Hands behind the back of head Inhale as you lift the chest up, feel the engagement of the upper back Hold 3 seconds Exhale and lower Do 5 to 10 reps #myofascialrelease,#painfree,#backpain,#soulcarept
Day 2 thoracic mobility So this is what I like to call cat cow of the upper back 1. Get into a child’s pose with the arms stretch out in front of you. Back is rounded and chin in toward chest 2. keeping hands where they are inhale and reach your chin forward (will feel the upper back by shoulder blades arc) focus you intention on this area 3. Exhale as draw chin toward the chest and round the upper back (that space around shoulder blade level) Do a few rounds inhale and exhale with movement attached. #myofascialrelease ,#functionaltraining, #movement
First exercise for increasing thoracic extension. 1.Get a blanket or towel and roll it up. 2.Place at the level of the nipple line and lie over it. Hands start at your side and just breath. 3.Feel a gentle opening of the chest (if it’s too much make the towel roll smaller) 4.Stay here 3 minutes or add some teaching over the head with the arms . Inhale reach up exhale lower 5.After 3 minutes remove the roll and lie on back and notice the space you created 6. Sit or stand clasp hands behind head 7. Gentle arc back paying attention to the movement occurring at the mid ribcage level 5 cycles inhale extend back exhale flex forward
So this week follow me to learn new ways to increase the mobility of your spine. Specifically the T - spine and the motion of extension and rotation. We already flex it too much because we sit and bend over things all day!! Unlock the extension and this improve rotation. Good morning. Take some time to pause today
Being in your body staying present in the moment. This is what the body is asking for this is how we help to heal old and new wounds, scars. Connecting to nature is a way that has always helped me feel more present and connected. Today at the beach I am reminded of the very essence of Myofascial release. Just as the beach at low tide reveals many patterns of canals, trenches some deep some shallow weaving through the sand, the water not yet able to get to them and bring the energy needed to fill them,we too in the body have these same canals,scars restrictions in the fascial system waiting for the energy to come to it, help it soften and fill with light and healing until it is gone because we allowed ourself to let it go.
