Diet And Your Eye Sight
Recent scientific studies have confirmed what your mother always knew: a healthier diet is good for your eye sight. Yellowish pigments called carotenoids are critical to vision. They are found in large quantities in kale, spinach and other dark green leafy vegetables, but also broccoli, green beans, corn, oranges, tomatoes and, yes, carrots. Eating a diet high in these pigments is protective against vision loss from age-related macular degeneration and may even improve fine contrast vision in normal eyes. Supplements containing carotenoids (like lutein and zeaxanthin) may also contain antioxidant vitamins (vitamin C and E) and minerals to increase protection against vision loss.
