Mazhar Lahko, MD, is a primary care physician and internal medicine specialist at Southern Illinois Internal Medicine in Fairview Heights, Illinois. Since 1990, he has practiced independently in the Metro East area. Dr. Lahko carefully evaluates each new and returning patient and strives to get to know them well in order to provide top-notch individualized care.
Dr. Lahko has received extensive education and training in his field. In 1977, he graduated with his medical degree from Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences in Jamshoro, Pakistan. Soon after graduating, he completed an internship at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases in Pakistan’s Sindh province. He moved to Lubbock, Texas, after his internship to complete a residency at Texas Tech University Health Science Center and completed a fellowship with the Wadley Institute of Molecular Medicine in Dallas, Texas.
At Southern Illinois Internal Medicine, Dr. Lahko treats acute and chronic health conditions. He sees many patients as a primary care provider and helps them manage long-term conditions like hypertension (high blood pressure), high cholesterol, diabetes, and obesity. His patients frequently leave excellent reviews about the quality of his care as well as his compassion.
