Emergency Medical Technician students at SRTC-Tifton learned about landing zone establishment and safety from AirEvac 142 out of Tifton. This training is delivered by subject matter experts and helps ensure that the EMTs can provide safe, rapid access to the highest levels of patient care to any critically ill or injured patients they are called to treat. Ensuring that these critical patients have the fastest transport to appropriate hospitals that are not in our general area can mean the difference between life and death. Thank you, AirEvac 142! 🚁

Wednesday, we wore pink for Breast Cancer Awareness. Each of us likely knows someone who has been impacted by this disease, like KaCee Holt, Student Wellness Coordinator at SRTC-Bainbridge, whose mother battled breast cancer. 🗣 “Not having breast cancer in our family, my mom went for her annual mammogram without a concern in the world, but 15 years ago, it showed an irregularity. After several biopsies and further testing, it was confirmed to be cancer in both breasts. She opted for a double mastectomy. With it being caught early in her mammogram, she didn’t have to go through any type of treatment. We are so thankful that it was caught early and that she has been cancer-free since October of 2005!” 💕
Wednesday, we wore pink for Breast Cancer Awareness. Each of us likely knows someone who has been impacted by this disease, like Barry Reynolds, Computer Information Systems Instructor at SRTC-Bainbridge, whose wife battled breast cancer. 🗣 “My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012. At first, they diagnosed it as Lobular Carcinoma but after a biopsy, it turned out to be Ductal Carcinoma. We then made the decision for her to have a Radical Double Mastectomy and she had to undergo months of Chemotherapy. I am very happy to say she has been cancer-free for 5 years now and all of her recent appointments have been positive. Get checked regularly and catch it early is the key to beating this disease.” 💕
Wednesday, we wore pink for Breast Cancer Awareness. Each of us likely knows someone who has been impacted by this disease, like our very own Cora Walden, Cosmetology Instructor at SRTC-Thomasville. 🗣"I am a Breast Cancer Survivor! I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in December of 2017. I remember receiving the phone call concerning the results from my mammogram. The nurse said, “Mrs. Walden, we see something from your mammogram that does not look normal.” I went back for follow-up with a positive mindset. After another diagnostic procedure, I remember my doctor saying to me, “no matter the time of day, when I receive results from the procedure I promise to call you.” My doctor called me a few days later and shared results: the procedure revealed that I had Breast Cancer. I had a great team of doctors and nurses from beginning to the end. After going through three surgeries and eight weeks of treatment, nothing mattered to me but my will to live. I am now Cancer Free! In June of 2020, I celebrated my two-year anniversary. I am so grateful for life, the opportunity to share my story, and the honor of joining the fight for Breast Cancer Awareness. It is my honor to share my story so that someone else can be healed and live." 💕
