One of the greatest rewards of being a part of a bar like Speak of the Devil is being able to be a platform for professional growth. From spirits education to hospitality training to the sharing of knowledge and ideas, a bar is only as good as its people. We are proud of our small but mighty team and are over the moon with this drink created (for two dear industry friends) by our principle bartender Jack Maple. He might be young, but his knowledge, passion and wisdom are all beyond most bartenders twice his age.

It's that time of year...Ohio apple cider, scotch (we prefer Monkey Shoulder), allspice, Averna...the full on fall flavors of Jeff Morgenthaler's (Clyde Common, Portland, Oregon) Flannel Shirt! What a week ahead (and looks like fantastic patio weather!) stop in and join us in our safe, socially distanced little cocktail joint and celebrate “the oldest, continually produced and maintained rye whisky brand in America" and the "bottle that built this bar"! It's Old Overholt Week at Speak of the Devil. We've surpassed 1000 bottles poured and we are celebrating!
Wednesday/Thursday - $20 flights through Overholt history: black cap 80 proof, red cap 86 proof, Old Overholt Bonded and the delicious Old Overholt 114 proof!
Friday - The debut of our weekend specialty cocktail menu staring Old Overholt in all of its iterations - accompanied by the sweet sounds of Austin Walkin' Cane live (6:30pm-9:30pm and will be streaming on the patio as well!)
Saturday - Beth Burrows - Jim Beam/Beam Suntory’s Kentucky Bourbon Ambassador - comes in from Louisville to help us celebrate our beloved rye and to chat with y'all about all things bourbon!
We've learned a lot along the way, and Speak of the Devil is an ongoing lesson in so many ways: how to build out and open a neighborhood bar (and how NOT to!); how to create a welcoming experience to which guests want to return; how to be a part of our community and serve it; how to treat guests and staff with the highest regard; how knowledge, training, and experience make us a better bar; and how hospitality is EVERYTHING! (not to mention how to survive a pandemic) But, above all, SOTD has always been a lesson in passion. We've always believed that if you love and believe in something and are executing it at the highest level that you're capable of, it is never a hard sell. We always want to be better - because we know we can be - but we just wanted to take a moment to thank you, from the bottom of our hearts, for continuing to come into our "living room" to spend some time hanging out with us while we continue to grow, learn and strive to be the best bar we can be. It means the world to us.

Mexican Divorce: we twisted the classic Hemingway cocktail into a tequila/rum concoction
Between the Sheets: a vintage classic riff on the ever perfect Sidecar
Black Rose: you know this one! Bourbon, grenadine, drink!
Painkiller: because often the heart hurts on Valentine's day...
