Listen in as Certified Instructor Jen Arndt shares how she uses a daily picture schedule in her home with her 3-year-old son. As Jen states, "A visual daily schedule helps children know what to expect throughout the day. These schedules soothe the lowest center of the brain, the Survival State, to help us feel safe. Especially during difficult times like we're experiencing with COVID-19, it's important that we offer a daily schedule to our children, so they know the plan for the day to help them feel safe." We spent the morning immersed in Conscious Discipline training -- remotely, of course -- We had a few mustached maurauders in our group.... Can you find them?
We learned that adult self-regulation is the key to teaching children to self-regulate. If we are calm, our children will be able to calm and feel safe. We expanded our knowledge about "safe places". Our children's first safe place is in our arms and on our laps. "Every child should have a safe place in their life." As children feel safe and gain social and emotional skills, they learn to regulate on their own.
Thanks for allowing us this day! I think we are all inspired to improve our selves and our classrooms.
We are piloting Early ECEAP, a comprehensive early education program for toddlers! We currently have openings in this program, along with wanting to build a waitlist for future enrollment. Please share this with families with young children who might be eligible.
The Christmas Bureau is doing things a bit differently this year. You must apply on-line for assistance by November 8th. Click on the link below to apply.
