Our team works closely with John Hopkins to ensure patients receive the care they need. Since the onset of COVID-19, many of our patients have been working from home. Additionally, now their children are potentially learning from home, too. It’s easy to sit down at the kitchen table or cozy up on the couch with your laptop for the work day. However, it’s important to understand the effects poor posture and faulty ergonomic workspaces can have on your body. Nicole Eberly, PTA, from our Lancaster, PA location, showcases the most common posture impairments including forward head, rounded shoulders and flattened back. Sitting in a slouched position puts stress on the spine and muscles of the neck, shoulders and back. This stress can have negative effects on flexibility and strength, causing pain or discomfort in these areas. To avoid discomfort and reduce stiffness, make sure you’re getting up to stretch or move after sitting for long periods of time. #posture #covid19 #workfromhome
