Meet our artist of the week, Jane Delmer! Originally from New Orleans, she attended Vanderbilt where she majored in Fine Arts and met her husband, Sam. Sam grew up in San Antonio, leading them to settle here 20 years ago. In that time, they have raised three children, Sam, Caroline and Margo and have two cats, Einstein and Midnight.

Jane has always loved San Antonio for its unique, interesting vibe, and culture. It often reminds her of New Orleans.
In her twenties, she backpacked through Europe. This is a special experience for her because of the exposure to different cultures and ideas.
•
Jane loves all genres of art, but is especially drawn to abstract expressionism. Particularly the work of Lee Krasner, DeKooning, and Rothko. She is always left surprised by how such non representational images can evoke such emotions in the viewer. From feelings of anxiety to calm to elation!
•
She feels as if her work is a reflection of the way she thinks about the chaos and order of life. The physical, active process of painting is her starting point and her work evolves from there. Her paintings vary in style and subjectivity but they all begin with a phase of expression of emotion laid out on the canvas.

The dreamiest vintage find. Designed in the 1970s, these chairs are from the Chicago company Lyon and Frost. Love imagining them in fun spaces with bright and fun colors!
