This weeks Pujols Family Foundation video is designed for a brand new or beginner level student - but even the most experienced black belt can gain a lot by reviewing and practicing even the most basic material. Thanks for joining us today.
A couple quick topics today 1) schedule update 2) October exams 3) Zoom students and private classes 1) beginning next week all of our Little Ninja 4:00 classes will begin at 4:25 instead. This will not impact any of our other classes. With several of our little ninjas going back to school in person this will be more convenient for most families. 2) October will bring about another exam cycle. We began doing exam prep for orange belts and above in class last week. That will continue over the next couple of weeks and I’ll begin testing those students who are ready around the middle of October. 3) We still have quite a few Zoom only students. I’ll be scheduling free private one on one classes with our Zoom green and blue belts for this Sunday afternoon. We’ll be working on your new forms. I’ll be emailing each of you in the next day or so to set up a time that works for you.
Congratulations to our newest black belt. Henry Seidel completed all of his exam and promotion requirements in class last night. He is a super talented and hard working student. Henry began his training as a Little Ninja eight years ago. I’ve never been more proud of anyone than I am of Henry. He’s just an awesome student and a terrific young man. Way to go Henry. I’ll try to post a picture soon of Mr Seidel in his new belt and uniform.
We continue to have some zoom/internet issues for the second night in a row. We did get through the 5:00 class tonight and I’m hopeful the 7:00 class will also make it - if you can’t get logged in or we lose connection again it’s a kicking night - do 40 of each basic kick. Hopefully we’ll see you on Zoom and you can watch one of our students complete his black belt requirements tonight.
I ran across this old photo today. Does anyone recognize this young lady? It’s from the early 1990s.
We will again be testing a number of students in class this week. While I’m sure it’s obvious to everyone by now our exam structure is still unique to the situation we’re all navigating these days. Some day in the future we’ll be back to our normal exam routine but for now I’ll continue testing the students in their classes when the time is right for them. The only thing really missing is the parents, and honestly, having the parents in class watching their children perform and listening to the lessons we teach is among the things I miss the most these days. I can’t wait for normalcy to return but we need to stay patient and continue to adapt as necessary for a while longer yet. I do want to encourage you to celebrate your children’s accomplishments when they earn their new belts though. I’m amazed at the way our students continue to learn and grow in spite of the challenges they’re faced with these days. That alone is worthy of our praise and celebration for them.
Tuesday Zoom - the 7:00 Tuesday zoom has been moved to join the 5:00 zoom tonight. The new link has been emailed to the 7:00 zoom group.
This weeks Pujols Family Foundation martial arts class video.
Another old picture to share today. Every one of these boys tested for black belt together several years after this picture was taken. They are one of the most fun groups of students and families ever. They’re are still good friends today. It’s hard to believe that some of them are in high school now.
We finished out our week the last three days with some good Halloween costume fun drills. While we did work a little bit too I think it was good for the students to just have some fun. We did some obstacle courses, Some martial arts brain work with forms, and we talked about Halloween safety in each class as well. Thanks to all of the students and parents for a fun week of entertainment. Here are some pictures from tonight’s classes.
Pictures form tonight’s Halloween classes - we had lots of fun again tonight.
We had lots of fun in our first day of Halloween fun classes. We talked about Halloween safety, worked a little, and did plenty of fun drills. We’ll continue with the same structure for the next two days. Wear your costume and have some fun while we work.
Remember to wear your Halloween costume tonight, tomorrow, and Friday for some fun drills in class. Last night Kingston came to Little Ninjas in his Cobra Kai costume. It seemed only appropriate to break a board. As you can tell, he’s got some great kicks!
Reminder - tonight’s special forms class is for 2nd degree black belts at 7:45. There’s still room for a few more students in this group for tonight.

Thanks to all the green and blue belts who attended the special forms classes this morning. Everybody worked hard on learning their new forms and had a little fun too.
