Standard Auto Parts, Corp. is a well-known fixture in Baltimore, successful because of its long history of skilled staff and loyal customers.
Jack Sutton started the Company, originally called Standard Supply Company, in October 1945. During this post-World War II period, the Company sold auto parts, hardware supplies, and Gleem house paint. The hardware and paint side of the business was phased out, and the Company was renamed Standard Auto Parts Corp. in 1962. The original building on North Avenue was destroyed by fire on February 29, 1960 and the Company moved into its current building on December 20, 1965. This spacious new home allowed us to carry a huge inventory and establish our reputation for having the parts our customers need.
In January, 2003 the Company opened a new corporate headquarters and distribution center at 2020 Hollins Ferry Road in South Baltimore. The new location allowed the Company to grow by leaps and bounds. Our 55,000 sq ft. of warehouse space allows us to keep the massive inventory that we need in order to supply our customers with the parts they need.
In June of 2007, we acquired a local three store operation called Action Auto Parts. By taking on all of Action?s employees, Standard Auto Parts combined the talent and experience of Action Auto Parts with the opportunity and huge inventory of Standard Auto Parts. Now we are more prepared than ever to provide the absolute best service to our customers both old and new.
