The holiday season is approaching quickly!! We are pleased to announce we will be holding our annual Paws for the Holidays event this year. Due to Covid - 19 we have re-evaluated the flow of this event to make sure we keep everyone safe while being able to support three local rescues/shelters. We are currently working out all the details and will keep you posted. In the meantime we are selling these shirts, in which all profits will go directly to the organizations we are helping this year.
Please call our office at 610-262-6986 to pre-order your shirt to guarantee your size will be available.
As always, we thank you for your continued support with this annual event, it means a lot to us to be able to give back to the community, especially now in these difficult times.
We look forward to seeing you at the event!

Meet Mr. Beefy. He came in today because he got into it with a skunk. But guess what? He did not let that ruin his weekend. How much fun is this? Try to be more like Mr. Beefy! 🤣
🇺🇸
Happy Friday!
Look at this cutie. <3
Cookie is a 10 week old long haired chihuahua that came in this week for her first exam. She quickly won the hearts of our staff! 🥰
I hope everyone had a good Tuesday! I haven't shared a puppy picture in a while so I just had to share these two today! Jules (pink harness) and Joy (blue harness) are a pair of bulldog sisters who came to see us tonight. These girls are very sweet, playful and love to snarf down treats!

We are finishing up Veterinary Technician Week here at Stanglein Veterinary Clinic and I wanted to take a moment to thank all of the staff for all the hard work that everyone has put in during this very trying year!
We extended our celebration this year to not only our nurses but assistants , customer service representatives and kennel staff all of whom have shown remarkable flexibility and have been taking on multiple tasks throughout the constant changes this year ! SVC truly cannot run without all of your help.
We’ve been making sure everyone is well fed and are planning to have some fun with a picnic (socially distanced of course) tomorrow!
Thanks to all our clients for continued kindness, patience and support!
All the best,
Dr Nate
P.S. Check out this amazing cake that Dr Suzanne made!
After much deliberation, we have chosen the 3 recipients for this year's Paws for the Holidays!
The first is Camp Papillion Animal Shelter, the second is Pawsitively Purrfect Rescue and the last one is AWSOM Animal Shelter.
As we start the Paw for the Holidays events and collections, we will be posting about each of these rescue/shelters in greater depth each week.
Due to the COVID-19 situation, Paws for the Holidays will be held a little bit differently this year. We are still in the process of working out the details, but we will keep you up-to-date!
I hope we can make this another successful year and spread some much-needed holiday cheer in these uncertain times!

As we are getting closer to December, our Paws for the Holidays event this year is going to be heavily modified and will be focused more on online and virtual sales.
In the upcoming weeks, we will be posting a virtual raffle basket sale and pre-orders for custom stockings and ornaments. Each week there will be a different item up for sale and there will be specific instructions on how to order these items. As usual, all proceeds will be donated to the three chosen rescues that we previously posted.
Starting Monday, we will be placing a box in the vestibule of our clinic which will used to collect donations such as food, treats, leashes, bowls/dishes, etc. We ask that any donations of bedding be limited to either gently used or new condition and be either fleece blankets or towels.
Additional information about our December 12th event will follow.

COVID-19 update 11/24
We are continuing to get COVID testing results back slowly, but the majority of our staff can return to work tomorrow. This allows us to see normal appointments, but only from 8am-5pm. If you have not been notified, please come for your scheduled appointment time.
The call volume continues to be high, so please try to use PetDesk, to leave a message on the refill line, and use Facebook messenger for all non-urgent medical questions. Clients should still call to check in when arriving and again, all appointments are now curbside. Medication/food pickups will continue to be through our curbside window.
We appreciate your patience!
Thank you,
The Stanglein Team
COVID-19 Update Monday 11/23:
While everyone is doing well, COVID testing results remain slow to come back. As such, we will be limited again tomorrow in our capabilities. All non urgent exams and procedures have been postponed.
If you have not been notified, then please come for your scheduled appointment time.
Our hours of operation tomorrow will be from 9am-4pm.
We are able to fill medications and schedule appointments as normal. We also expect call volume to be high. So with limited staff, we ask you to please try to use PetDesk, to leave a message on the refill line, and to use Facebook messenger for all non urgent questions. Hopefully this will allow our staff to quickly address urgent concerns and check clients in.
Clients should still call to check in when arriving and again, all appointments will return to curbside service. Medication/food pickups will continue to be through our curbside window.
Another update will follow tomorrow if we are able to return to normal hours. Thank you again for your patience.
Sincerely,
Dr. Nate
Thank you for the outpouring of support while we take appropriate precautions for our staff! We truly do appreciate all of our caring clients! We have had two staff members test positive for COVID-19. Neither of them have been in the facility since Thursday 11/12 and both are recovering at home. We have no other suspected cases but are awaiting results of testing for close contacts.
We have a limited number of staff that are clear to return to work tomorrow, while a majority are experiencing delays in precautionary COVID testing. We will be open but with limited capabilities.
The following changes will be in place:
Our hours of operation tomorrow will be from 9am-4pm.
We will be seeing only sick/emergent appointments to be scheduled at the doctor's discretion. All non urgent appointments are being rescheduled and those clients will be called individually.
We anticipate being able to fill medications and schedule appointments as normal.
Another update will follow tomorrow. Thank you so much for your patience,
Sincerely,
Dr. Nate
Important update for November 20th/21st.
This evening we have had a confirmed positive COVID test from one of our staff members. Unfortunately, this team member has been in close contact with the majority of our nursing staff and doctors. As such, we feel the most prudent course of action will be to close Stanglein Veterinary Clinic on both Friday November 20th and Saturday November 21st to allow deep cleaning of the facility and for our staff to isolate and receive appropriate testing.
We expect to reopen on Monday November 23rd for normal office hours of 8am-6pm. Should we be unable to do this we will provide Facebook and email updates as soon as possible. All appointments will be returning to curbside service only for the foreseeable future.
All scheduled appointments for both days are being contacted and we will attempt to be reschedule them as soon as possible. Our phones will be off so please send any non-urgent medical questions as messages to our Facebook page. We will try to address them as completely as we can. Any pets with urgent medical problems should be seen at appropriate emergency facilities.
We apologize sincerely for any inconvenience and look forward to be open and running as soon as possible.
All the best,
Dr. Nate
Today I'm sharing Bert, a 14 week old Cornish Rex kitten who came to see us on Tuesday! Cornish Rexes are very cool cats with unique coats that are very fine and extremely curly! This little one is still growing into his coat, so you can't quite see the characteristic pattern!
Bert is sweet and loves to play with his crinkle balls! We all enjoyed getting to see him and he loved all the attention we showered on him!

It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to cancel the Paws for the Holiday event on December 12th. With the current state of the pandemic, we feel it would be in everyone's best interest to not have the photos with Santa though we will still be hosting psychic intuitive Jen Cortright for phone readings (if you are interested in having a reading done, please call to schedule!)
Since we won't be holding the "main" event, Stanglein Vet Clinic decided to donate $1 from each exam during the month of December to Paws for the Holidays. We will also be holding virtual raffle basket sales that will start on Monday. Details will be forthcoming on Monday via Facebook and e-mail.
We hope everyone stays safe and has a happy holiday! Stay tuned for the first virtual sale on Monday!

Happy Monday! Today I'm sharing everyone's favorite Boxer boyfriend, Murphy, who had his last chemo treatment today!
Murphy is a sweet, 10 year old Boxer who was diagnosed with cancer last October. He still had a lot of life and spunk in him, so his owners elected to do chemotherapy and he's been a frequent flier! He is a great boy for his chemo, always so brave and such an angel for the nurses!
Congratulations Murphy!! We all love you!
Our staff pets have been dressing warm during the freezing weather. Do your pets enjoy wearing clothing? <3
Happy Saturday and happy National Love Your Pet Day!
Let's see your fur babies! <3
I hope everyone stayed warm yesterday! We are open again and can you believe we are halfway through February?! As I mentioned in a previous post, February is Pet Dental Health month and we are still offering 10% off dentals during this time! But what about daily pet dental care?
We offer a variety of products that can help keep your pet's teeth pearly white and slow the progression of calculus and tartar build-up!
The good old staple of dental care is brushing! With a special pet-only toothpaste and a good toothbrush (there are special long-handled ones or even ones that fit on your finger), a quick brush daily or even weekly can go a very long way to maintaining your pet's mouth!
For owners that are unable to brush teeth, we also offer a product called Vetradent, which is a water additive that is mixed with the pet's drinking water. It can help freshen breath and reduces plaque and tartar build-up!
Lastly, we also carry Veggident and C.E.T Hextra dental chews which both provide a natural abrasive cleansing action that helps keep teeth clean and breath fresh. Veggiedent is made without any animal-based ingredients (perfect for pets with food allergies) while the C.E.T is a natural beef rawhide!
We have these products in stock or they are also available on our online pharmacy Vetsource which is accessible on our website!
-Megan
I'm happy to announce that the next cat day is March 19!
Cat days are special days filled with only cat appointments! We hold these special days 4 times a year in an effort to get cats the attention and doctor care they need! Cats deserve annual exams and preventative care just as much as their canine counterparts. Cats are good at hiding illness and by the time they start showing symptoms for the owners to notice, it is often either too late or has become much more difficult to treat the illness.
Cat Day fills up fast so be sure to call and schedule your appointment before we fill up!
-Megan
Today I'm sharing Memphis, a 19 week old German Shepherd who visited us today! He loves to play with his ball and his squeaky pig and visiting dog parks! He was a very good boy for his appointment today and was a social butterfly!

We are super excited to celebrate little Thor's final chemo treatment today! Thor is one of the best little Chihuahuas that comes to our clinic, always so sweet and super cooperative for everything (which is rare for the usually feisty Chihuahua breed!)
For the past 20 weeks he has been a frequent flier, visiting us weekly for blood checks and treatments. We are gonna miss seeing him so often!
Congratulations Thor!!

Due to the high volume of calls and discussions about the recent USA Today article that was published by about the safety of Seresto collars, we wanted to reach out and give peace of mind to our clients. While parasite preventatives may have side effects, just like any medications, the benefits outweigh the risks for most patients. Each individual patient has a tailored protocol of when to use certain parasite preventatives based on lifestyle risk. We strive to bring the best and safest options available.
One important point not discussed in the article is the prevalence of counterfeit products. Since Seresto is “over the counter” and very popular, there are unfortunately a lot of fake products with unknown ingredients and efficacy. The best way to avoid this is to purchase from a reputable source including veterinarians and their online pharmacies.
Elanco Statement of Safety of Seresto®
Elanco takes the safety of our products very seriously, and thoroughly investigates potential concerns related to their use. It is critically important to understand that a report is not an indication of cause. Since its initial approval in 2012, more than 25 million Seresto collars have protected dogs and cats in the U.S. from fleas, ticks and the resulting tick-borne illnesses that can impact their quality of life.
There is no established link between death and exposure to the active ingredients contained in Seresto. The reporting rate for all adverse events related to Seresto is less than 0.3% of all collars sold since 2012 -defined by the WHO (World Health Organization) as “uncommon”. The significant majority of these incidents relate to non-serious effects such as application site disorders –reddening of the skin or hair loss below the collar. As a globally marketed product, more than 80 regulatory authorities around the world, including the US EPA, rigorously reviewed the safety data collected over the course of Seresto’s development prior to registration and/orapproval, as appropriate. Further, the safety and efficacy of Seresto are continuously monitored and scrutinized by global regulatory bodies as well as via internal processes.

He's pretty good for his treatments and is a happy-go-lucky boy in general!
