Can you FATHOM your child in the hospital ALONE? Well, at least you could talk to the Dr. and nurses? NOPE! Not if they’re 18+. Trust me; my husband is a hospital administrator. If your child is 18+, they need powers of attorney and healthcare legal documents! All 3 of mine signed there’s as soon as they turned 18! I’ve used them already too! This isn’t a sales pitch, it’s a “get this done” pitch! Please call us if we can help your family with this!”

We’ve been inundated with information about the Coronavirus - how it’s likely to spread and the steps we need to take to protect ourselves and our loved ones.
We’ve all been told to:
- Wash our hands frequently
- Avoid touching our eyes, nose and mouth
- Cover our cough or sneeze with a tissue
- Gather 2 weeks of supplies in case of quarantine
This is all good information, but sometimes information is not enough, as we often see at the firm.
This week we have received several calls from clients and non-clients concerned about what could happen if they get the Coronavirus and they don’t have adequate (or any) legal documents (Powers of Attorney for finances and healthcare, Wills and Trusts) in place. We have also received calls from family members concerned about a loved one in a care center (such as a nursing home or rehab center) on lock-down.
We've been working diligently with families and care centers to successfully establish estate plans where such is needed (even for those in care centers on lock-down).
The takeaway here to is to make sure you are covered, not just when you cough or sneeze, but also with regards to your estate plan (legal documents).
If you have your powers of attorneys in place, chances are you’re in great shape. If you don’t have your Powers of Attorneys done, NOW is the time to get them (financial and healthcare) in place.
