This is Deacon Joe, one of our spiritual counselors. Joe's reason for working in hospice is.. Our hospice team is an extension of our patient’s family, and we are here to support them through one of the most important journeys of their lives. Here’s how we help: · We can educate on symptom management and disease progression. · We provide emotional and spiritual support to the entire family. · Our bereavement services continue for 13 months after the patient passes. · We have compassionate volunteers available to provide practical assistance and emotional support.

Hi everyone! This is Pam, one of our resourceful & supportive licensed social workers. Pam's "Why" for choosing to work in hospice is: Proverbs 31:20, "She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy." This and many other versus in the Bible motivate her to serve God by serving those in need. We are so blessed to have Pam on our team! Our patients and families are so thankful for her dedication and tenacity.

I met members of Star Hospice when my mother suddenly became ill and was in critical condition. From the day I met Renee and Pat, RN, to meeting Pam our Social Worker, Mollie, our 2nd nurse, John the Chaplain and Amelia, mom’s caretaker, to the day of mom’s funeral service - and after - this team has been absolutely tremendous. Their attentiveness to our questions and focus on our needs (even when we didn’t realize we had needs) were extraordinary. They listened - patiently - and sat there with my brother and I as we waded through this sea of grief for our mother. Pam, thank you for your support and kindness to my family and others that visited. You are one in a million. ♥️🙏🏼 As we stayed with her for a week at the hospital, every day, we saw someone from Star Hospice. From Pam our Social Worker who came and sat with me to check up on mom and keep me company for awhile, to Amelia who came and bathed and cared for my mother with the utmost dignity and respect (you are an Angel ♥️) to John our Chaplain whom I don’t have enough words to say how wonderful he has been with my mother, with me and with my brother. John is the light that quietly shines in the midst of darkness and despair. He sat with me, he prayed with me and when I wasn’t there, he prayed alone with my unconscious mother. He spent time alone with my brother and counseled him in his grief when I asked him to please talk to him. I would like to think that we got to know John really well and he has become an extended part of our spiritual family. John even went to my mother’s service and said a prayer for her at the cemetery. Not many Chaplains will do that...for John, it did not end when my mother died. He is just an Angel of God walking among us mere mortals. ♥️🙏🏼 The RNs, Pat and Mollie who came, checked on mom, and spoke with the hospital nursing staff to ensure mom was being cared for and then stayed with us and explained everything that was happening were a Godsend. They LISTENED to us even if it was probably something they’d heard a hundred times before, they patiently listened. They didn’t make us feel like we were stopping them from being somewhere or from doing something else. They dropped everything and were just ‘present’. Thank you ♥️🙏🏼 I can’t praise this special group of people enough. My heart, though grieving, is full and satisfied knowing I had this team of angels walking through this right by our sides. THANK YOU, STAR HOSPICE. YOUR KINDNESS, RESPECT AND DIGNITY WITH MY MOTHER WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN. ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️ 😇😇😇😇😇😇 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
