Countinuing with our staff introductions! Today we are introducing June Boucher, LCSW. June is so pleased to be part of the STARR Family Behavioral Health staff, having started working here in February 2020. She grew up in West Los Angeles and graduated from Venice High School where, by the way, the movie Grease was filmed. When her daughter, Sunny, was born in 1969, June and her family moved to Boise where her sister was living. Due to a job opportunity, they moved to Eugene, Oregon in 1980 and returned to Boise in 1999. June graduated with a BS in Psychology from Boise State University in 1975. She received her master’s degree in social work from Boise State University in 2013 and achieved her Clinical License in 2015. While in Eugene, June worked as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for 10 years. In 1990, she started and managed her own temporary personnel company, Staff Management Associates. After returning to Boise, June worked for Community Partnerships of Idaho where she provided on-the-job work assessments, with referrals from Idaho Vocational Rehabilitation and the Veteran’s Administration. After obtaining her master’s degree, she worked as a clinician at Intermountain Hospital for five years. June specializes in adult and geriatric therapy. In her approach to therapy, she feels empathy and active listening are essential. June’s techniques include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy. Her emphasis is motivational, by helping clients make needed changes through gaining skills in problem-solving, assertiveness, and conflict resolution, which is done through logical or rationalizing techniques, such as, guided imagery and visualization or reframing. In her spare time June loves gardening, cooking, decorating, reading, and playing with her two cats, Morgan and Sky. June’s family expanded this year and, in addition to her daughter Sunny, through Ancestory.com, she was able to connect with a nephew and his family in Texas. June and her loved ones are looking forward to being able to meet in person when COVID is no longer a threat. We are so grateful to have June and her sweet disposition on our team!
