Physical Therapy
At Staszak Physical Therapy & Wellness Center, we take a holistic approach to helping rehabilitate each individual.
Every visit is 60 minutes. This gives us the time to do manual therapy, instruct you on how to do the proper exercises and teach you about your injury so you'll understand why we are having you do the exercises we prescribe.
Manual therapy. We utilize a variety of manual therapy techniques including: myofascial release, joint mobilization, deep tissue mobilization, muscle energy, traction, Graston, and kinesio taping.
Exercise. We utilize the principles of Pilates, yoga, and a variety of other exercises, including weights in the rehabilitation process. All of these exercises are helpful, but until you begin to incorporate them into your functional daily life, they are just exercises.
Posture. Poor posture, whether it's a slumping pattern or a hyperextended posture, creates a series of compensation patterns that compromise various areas of your body. Left uncorrected, poor posture can lead to inflammation, degenerative changes (such as arthritis), and eventually pain.
Education. We feel that education is a critical component to the rehabilitation process. If you understand your injury and the patterns that may have helped bring it on, you're more likely to work at having correct posture and alignment. In addition, when you understand why you're being asked to do certain exercises and what the impact will be, the chances of you doing your home exercises increase dramatically.
Awareness. We work on helping loosen up areas of muscle, myofascial, and joint restrictions with manual therapy. We teach you the proper way to do exercises, starting with the core stabilizers. We help you understand proper posture and body mechanics. Next comes being aware of how you integrate a variety of functional activities throughout your daily life.
