Craig Raucher runs the well know Staten Island Basketball league at PS 8. It is the longest running continuous group at one location in the history of the New York City school system. The group is composed of many former college, high school and hard-nosed playground basketball players. It was formed because many players were seeking an indoor venue to play year-round and also did not like playground basketball politics. The ages of the players runs from 25 to 65 and the league is not run in a traditional way. During each three-hour session most players have played eight games. It's a good workout and a highly competitive experience. $10 will be collected at the door and allows you to play a full day of basketball.
