About

Staten island Fencing Center has been building the Olympic sport of fencing here on Staten Island since 1980.
ALL AGES AND LEVELS ARE WELCOME!
We welcome beginners from age 5 to 75 and over as well as ambitious competitors.
One of our 5-year-olds went on to fence for her college in the NCAA nationals.
One of our 70+ fencers medaled at the USA Fencing National Championships in his age group. Our competitive fencers have been city champions and NCAA All-Americas.
WE FOCUS ON THE FENCER.
We want our beginners to have fun while developing coordination, physical conditioning, foresight, courage, and self-confidence.
As our fencers develop, we want to help them attain their maximum potential.
AND WE ARE FRIENDLY!

STATEN ISLAND FENCING CENTER Our plan for reopening of the club for the Fall of 2020 Greetings to our fencers and their families! I would like to announce that we have decided to reopen the SIFC starting on FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 11th. We will continue as in the past to have open fencing and private classes on Friday evenings and our Mini Musketeer and Youth class Saturday mornings and private lessons Saturday afternoon. However, because of the Covid-19 crisis we will institute new policies for the protection of our children and their parents. We will ask that everyone please co-operate and assist in making sure each of us follow the following rules. • First, we have washed all the club’s uniforms, lame’s, masks and weapons. • All fencers must wipe down their weapon and mask before fencing. • Fencers must wipe down their weapon and mask after fencing. • All fencers must wash their hands before and after fencing. • Fencers must wear a face mask at all times. • Fencers will be required to wear face masks under their fencing masks when fencing. • Fencers must social distance and try to stay at least 6 feet apart when not fencing or in classes. • During open fencing on Fridays, all fencers must remain at least 6 feet apart when not fencing. We know our teen fencers enjoy socializing at the club and we encourage this but until further notice please socialize at least 6 feet apart. • Our parents who come to sit and watch will be seated 6 feet apart, we know that you also enjoy socializing, but we ask that keep your distance from each other inside the club. • During our classes Coach Danny will try to maintain a wider distance between the fencers. • We will keep the front and back doors open to have a better circulation of air inside the building. • We will keep wipes and hand sanitizers on hand for all to use, we encourage fencers and their parent to bring their own wipes and sanitizers as well for themselves and their equipment. • The SIFC will honor all class time that was paid for before the club closed for Covid-19. • We ask that our parents help us with our youngest fencers as we know that they don’t always like to follow rules and like to play and run around. We are aware that wearing masks all the time is not always comfortable and that cleaning equipment and washing hands is time consuming, but it is more important to keep each other safe so we all can enjoy our favorite sport. Get in touch if you have any questions. We hope that very soon that it will be shown that we can be alerted that we can resume our activities in a more normal fashion. Due to the current ongoing situation and an effort to keep our members and our staff safe, the SIFC will be shutting down until further notice. We certainly hope this is a temporary shutdown and look forward to hosting classes and open fencing once again soon. We are considering options for those who have already prepaid for upcoming lessons. We will keep you posted on how we can make those up to you. Please check in here for any latest news. In the meantime, stay safe and we look forward to seeing you back at the club again when the time is right. Thank you.
