Did you know that animals have been welcomed at the White House since the very beginning? That's right, President George Washington had dogs and horses accompany him throughout his presidency. Today, however, is particularly special, as it will be the first time a rescue dog takes up residency there!
Today -- we feel so proud of Major & Champ -- as they em"bark" on their new lives as First Dog's of the United States of America. Major Biden is a perfect example of how endless the possibilities can be for homeless dogs.

BVSPCA alumna Roo lost her person last week in a random act of violence. Milan Loncar, just 25 years old, was shot and killed by two men in a robbery while walking Roo in the Brewerytown section of Philadelphia. Milan passed away holding Roo’s leash tightly in his hand. Milan was a Wayne native and recent Temple engineering grad just starting his career. His family members speak of his kindness and bright future, and every photo you see of him includes a big smile. Milan’s sister, Jelena, has welcomed Roo into her home. We hope Roo brings her family some comfort, and we appreciate Milan's mom, Amy, thinking of when she adopted Roo here. Today the family holds services for Milan. Please keep them in your thoughts as they mourn the loss of a wonderful young man.
