Did you know Saint Anne’s Hospital is the only hospital in the area to use an advanced breast surgery technology called Magseed® that enables doctors to more easily and precisely locate a tumor? This tiny radiation-free seed, about the size of a grain of rice is magnetic and is firmly implanted in minutes days before surgery.
On the day of surgery, a magnetic probe is used to detect the Magseed, which guides the surgeon directly to the tumor. Because the magnetic seed sits within the tumor, the surgeon can locate and remove the cancerous area more completely in one operation. This means that fewer patients require a second surgery to remove any remaining cancer.

Jo-Ann White, a certified nursing assistant (top photo), was the first of 60 employees to receive the vaccine on this day. We are so thankful to the staff at St. Anne’s Hospital for providing local first responders access to the Covid 19 vaccine. Earlier today Firefighter / Paramedic Eric Arruda received the first of his two injections. This vaccine gives us great relief as we come in to contact with many sick people in the course of a 24 hour shift. As one of our senior members, Firefighter Arruda is leading by example.
Kevin Gallagher, fire chief for the Town of #Acushnet, was among first responders from southeastern Massachusetts who received their first round of the #COVID19vaccine at Saint Anne's Hospital this week. Saint Anne's is proud to offer this to area EMS providers and other first responders who partner with us in delivering essential care and services to our communities.

Dedicated on February 6, 1906, as a 44-bed facility, the hospital was built for $108,000 on land purchased by the Dominican Sisters of the Presentation at the corner of South Main and Middle streets. Medical records, 1906 style: This page from Saint Anne's Hospital's patient log in June 1906 provides a look into community health care needs during our first year. The 25 patients admitted that month (names deleted for privacy) were among 858 patients admitted between February 9 and June 30. Some common diagnoses: rheumatism, typhoid fever, tuberculosis, various carcinomas (cancers), and "la grippe" (flu). Several patients underwent surgery, and most were discharged as "cured." #TBT #115years

Congratulations to our team of medical interpreters who recently earned High Honors during their annual skills assessment by Cross-Cultural Communication Systems. Our interpreters are re-assessed regularly to ensure high-competency language communication to non-English-speaking patients. This scholarship program honors the late Saint Anne’s Hospital ICU nurse who passed away in February 2015 at the age of 26, just six months after being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. This year's awards are designed to assist students pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in the 2021-2022 academic year.
