A couple weeks ago we celebrated Independence Day. Our Dining Services Director, Ayanna Johnson, and Activities Director, Paulette Davis, made awesome efforts to make July 4th special for residents and staff. Many of us commented on how normal it felt! Covid-19 has thrown us all for a loop, and the BBQ really touched our hearts!! Grateful for the country we have and the many wonderful people that make America special!
This week we honor the caregivers that we call Certified Nursing Assistants, the heart of our facility front line staff. CNAs spend their lives taking care of our community’s most vulnerable population. They spend their time feeding, bathing, grooming, dressing, lifting, encouraging, safeguarding, helping, healing, and being true healthcare heroes. Thousands upon thousands of hours are spent in service each year by these guardian angels. We love our dedicated CNAs for who they are and what they do day in and day out!

We have been truly amazed at the courage and resilience of our nursing home staff these past few weeks. As one of our healthcare heroes pointed out today, it’s serious business!
The Nightingale Pledge, first written in 1893, points out many of the qualities we see everyday on the front lines of the fight against Covid-19:
“I solemnly pledge myself before God and in the presence of this assembly, to pass my life in purity and to practice my profession faithfully. I will abstain from whatever is deleterious and mischievous, and will not take or knowingly administer any harmful drug. I will do all in my power to maintain and elevate the standard of my profession, and will hold in confidence all personal matters committed to my keeping and all family affairs coming to my knowledge in the practice of my calling. With loyalty will I endeavor to aid the physician in his work, and devote myself to the welfare of those committed to my care.”
