This is a "Model 1958 Phantom Lister Dragon Roadster" ( or just LISTER) created by Dragon Motor Cars LLC out of New Hampshire. These are built as a high performance sports car available in kit form; they're styled after many of the sports cars from the late 1950's and "60's. The frame comes pre built then uses Corvette C4 or C5 suspension and drivetrain components. Small block Chevy engines are the normal powerplant. (Check out Dragon Motor Cars on Google for much more information.) This car came to us in Mid-October for us to complete the body work and paint. The exact color is yet to be determined. This is going to be a pretty wild ride when complete and it will be fun to see the finished product. We invite you to follow along.

Straight Lines Custom Restorations, Inc. added 5 new photos. December 29, 2020 at 1:01 PM · This Olds Cutlass came in to us in February of 2018. The original plan called for replacement of a damaged hood that had opened while underway, installation of Kindig flush mount door handles, removal of trunk lettering and possibly other mild custom touches. In addition, a new stock style interior with a custom center console will be installed along with a new top. The car presently has a 6.0L GM LS style engine. The engine will get an upgrade to FiTech fuel injection. As we got into the project, we discovered serious paint adhesion issues and heavy filler in some areas. The car will now be media blasted in our Dakota Media Blasting section and receive a full "on-frame" exterior restoration.

We had a couple milestone moments in the shop this week. The owner was in to see the start up of his 1971 Cutlass Convertible after months in the restoration process. (It fired up and sounds great!) And, the Lister had the orange stripes applied over the fresh silver, then the clear coat. (This is going to be a stunning car out in the sun when all is finished!) It was a good week! Have a great weekend everyone!

The car was started several years ago by a previous owner, then sat unfinished for several years. The car is on a custom frame and currently has a small block Chevy in place. This will be a full restoration/build. At this time the plan includes the following: build and install either a 351 Windsor (Ford) or a 302 Ford with AOD, the car will be black with red wheels, a custom interior will be installed, and the large roof opening will be closed up with metal. Of course, the frame, suspension, brakes, etc., will all be updated/restored. The build will also include Fuel Injection, Dakota Digital gauges, and Air Conditioning. That's what we know so far. As with most builds, there may be changes or additions along the way. This should be a fun one, we hope you'll follow along!
Bill stopped by Excessive Autosports to watch the dyno tuning on his 1985 Chevy 1 ton truck which we recently completed. It pumped out 545 rear wheel horsepower! Bill appears to be pretty happy as he videos the process! (And, who wouldn't be?)

This 1967 Mustang is in for a variety of maintenance type repairs: battery, clean the gas tank and fuel system, "get it running", brakes, and repair the gauges. With a new battery, carb overhaul, and several tune-up items, it was running and sounding pretty good today. There's more to be done yet, but this owner should be ready for cruising when the weather breaks. How about you, will you be ready? There is some great weather coming for the next week or so, it's time to get those spring preparations done!

Give us a call or stop in to discuss your needed repairs/upgrades. Have a great weekend!
Here's something slightly different for you today that many of you may find interesting. We have used several custom frames (chassis) in the last couple years from Art Morrison Enterprises. These are used on some of our "upper end" builds where the strength and performance benefits of a high performance chassis, and the related components, are desired. Take a look at this Art Morrison Enterprises chassis that came in recently for a 1958 Corvette which we will be working on. The build quality of this chassis is amazing, it's truly a work of art! (No pun intended.)

While this may seem like an unusual swap at first, these are actually popular enough that many of the various items required for the swap (motor mounts, for example) are already fabricated and readily available from suppliers. Rather than relying on the old 1965 engine and powertrain technology, the owner will now have reliable, up-to-date technology powering this classic.
