Dark sky, white you
People are covered, so I’ve covered you
Touch your face, feel the tear
Oh, it’s mine
Though it’s windy, can’t stop me loving you

“As I work at my drawings, day after day, what seemed unattainable before is now gradually becoming possible. Slowly, I’m learning to observe and measure. I don’t stand quite so helpless before nature any longer” — Vicent van Gogh in “Lust for Life”

Today, Stride Arts wants to take a moment to celebrate the International Day of Peace for this year. When difficulties come, they made us stronger and more united than ever. In 2020, we have experienced much and it’s still on. But we can’t agree more with the UN — “it has been clearer than never that we are not each other’s enemies.”
Let’s embrace the peace and love, and let’s make John Lennon(s) alive again.

“Abstraction allows man to see with his mind what he ann’t see physically with his eyes… Abstract art enables the artist to perceive beyond the tangible, to extract the infinite out of the finite. It is the emancipation of the mind. it is an expiration into unknown areas. ” — Arshile Gorky

Minimalism in visual art, sometimes referred to as literalist art and ABC Art emerged in new York in the 1960s. It is regarded as a reaction against the painterly forms of Abstract Expressionism as well as the discourse, institutions and ideologies that supported it.
As artist and critic Thomas Lawson noted in his 1977 catalog essay Last Exist: Painting, minimalism did not reject Clement Greenberg’s claims about Modernist Painting’s reduction to surface and materials so much as take his claims literally.

You are invited to the opening of "Beyond the Image" recent art by Q X Wang. VIP viewing and meeting the artist on Oct 16, 3 - 7 pm.
QX Wang - Beyond The Image is back.
This Friday (Oct 16), Beyond The Image exhibition - QX Wang will feature at Stride Arts.
For the artist’s over thirty years career, critics pointed out that “QX Wang is extremely courageous in exploring his own way for renovation. He has successfully established his style which is emotional, passionate, and rich in calligraphic properties”. Abandoning the mainstream Chinese water-ink genre that came to be associated with traditional techniques, he set his own approach combing with western contemporary concepts and calligraphic expressing methodology. Being as a humble human being and scholar, QX Wang has been exploring and renovating his definition of arts. “Breaking through” is what he keeps pursuing, which is implied in his “OX STORY: BREAKTHROUGH THE STABLE” series. QX Wang’s formal experimentations and clever use of the mixed concepts and techniques have evolved in form and meaning to redefine the contemporary art by Chinese-American artist.
QX Wang was born in the home province of Confucius, 1942, earned his Ph.D from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He had been teaching for over 30 years in various global universities. The works will be unveiled at Stride Arts (1110 2nd Ave #200, NYC) on Friday, Oct 16 at 3pm EDT. Follow the link to learn more. His works have been exhibited and collected in the US, the UK, Japan, Germany, Spain, France, China, etc.

”In THE SWAN LAKE SERIES, I try to intensify the quality of free brushwork of Chinese calligraphy so that it can be the most suitable vehicle to depict the birds as symbols rather than realistic images. However, I never let the strokes go wild, but they are controlled, reserved, somewhat childish, clumsy, and inelegant. It is a higher level in the hierarchy of calligraphic criteria.” -- QX Wang

Stride Arts Presents: ~~Totonho~~[a Brazilian Artist]
Toronto is a self-taught artist, who was born in the countryside in the state of Bahia. He started to paint at a very early age, living on his grandparent’s farm.
“I was born and raised at my grandparent’s farm in the state of Bahia, in northeastern Brazil. They grew beans, corn, manioc, tobacco and a variety of
tropical fruits. The soil was fertile and green, with a river and lakes full of fish.
Alongside our farm was an immense forest with native plants and animals and full of mysteries …"
