Joseph F. Kaplan went home to his Heavenly Father on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at the age of 87 from Ridgewood Care Center. He was born on July 25, 1933, the son of the late Edwin and Mamie (NEE: Olk) Kaplan.
On May 5, 1956, he was united in marriage to Elaine Clark, who preceded him in death on December 27, 2015. He served his country in the United States Navy and was employed Karten Medical Group for many years as a radiologist. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He was an avid Milwaukee Brewers fan, listened on the radio and the television.
Joseph is survived by his sister-in-law Judith Eppler, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends. As well as his precious canine, Peanut, whom he adored and cherished. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by five sisters, two brothers, and their spouses. One of the sisters, Josephine A. Barth was Joseph’s twin. He always teased Josephine by telling everyone he had to kick his sister to get out of the womb and into the world.
Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at 1 p.m. at Sacred Heart (2201 Northwestern Avenue). The family will receive guest on Thursday, October 8, 2020 from noon until the time of service. Entombment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery (5600 Holy Cross Road).

Bernard John Obry, 74, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at Ascension All Saints Hospital. He was born on June 9, 1946 in Racine, the son of Bernard A. and Jean A. (NEE: Lewis) Obry. John worked for Johnson Wax in Research and Development. He served as a Sergeant with the United States Air Force. John enjoyed golfing, dining at Culver’s and life in general. John will be deeply missed by his sisters Susan Ireton of Florida and Ruth (Kevin) Plocinski of Racine, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. A special thank you to Ridgewood and Ascension for their kind and compassionate care. Honor Guard will perform at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2020 at Strouf Funeral Home, 1001 High Street, Racine. Marilyn Zacharias, 88, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2020, at the Villa at Lincoln Park. Marilyn was born on July 2, 1932 in Racine, the daughter of Edwin and Natalie (NEE: Koser) Frost. Marilyn worked for the Goodwill Inc. as a motivational speaker. She was also the founder of Insight, Inc, of Racine. She spent her career motivating people to live to their highest potential. Her motto was “give yourself approval” inspiring others toward self-confidence. She was a long-time member of Unity Church, deeply inspired by her teacher LaVerne Bauer. She enjoyed reading, her daily spiritual practices and spending time with her family. Marilyn was an inspiration to us all and showed us what unconditional love was all about. She will be deeply missed by her sons Steven and Thomas Zacharias, nieces Jodi Olson and Becky Hartwig, nephews Roland Lee and Paul Olson, granddaughter Lauren Bell as well as other relatives and friends. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Natalie, Sister Marjorie Olson and son Brian Zacharias. Per Marilyn’s wishes, private services will be held.
Jesse Salinas, 71, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at home. He was born on September 28, 1948 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Racine, Wisconsin. Born the son of Rafael and Agapita (NEE: Pineda) Salinas. Jesse married Susan Mary Ann Ocanas on March 23, 2011 in Racine, Wisconsin. Jesse worked at Case for nearly 23 years as foundry worker. He enjoyed fishing, doing yardwork, collecting model cars, and watching the Green Bay Packers. More than anything he cherished time with his family and loved to visit with them. Jesse will be deeply missed by his wife Susan Salinas, and children Jesus Ramon (Danielle) Salinas, Selena Maria Salinas, Jesus Rafael Salinas, Suzeli Canales, Elias Canales Jr., and Elsa Canales. He will be dearly missed by granddaughter Delilah Kelley. Jesse is survived by his beloved brothers, Rafael of Brownwood, TX, and Ricardo (Rebecca) of Racine, WI, and loving sisters Guadalupe Zamora (Othon) of Whitewater, WI, Rosalinda Westmoreland (Robert) of Clermont, FL, and Juanita Samarripa (Reynaldo) of Irving, TX. He is survived by his best friend Elias Canales Sr., and many nieces, nephews, loving relatives, and faithful friends. Jesse was preceded in death by his mother Agapita M. Mary Virginia Devine, 75, of Racine, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2020 at The Bay at Water’s Edge Nursing Home and Rehab Center in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Mary was born on April 20, 1945 in Racine, Wisconsin. Born the daughter of Joseph T. Devine and Virginia A. Musil. Mary enjoyed school and valued getting an education. She graduated from Dominican College with a bachelor's degree, UW Madison with a master's degree, and Wayne State where she received her PhD. She worked as a writer of History and Culture at Liewelyn Publishers for many years. Mary was very creative; she enjoyed writing, researching art and history, and jewelry appraising. Mary will be deeply missed by her nephew Joseph W. Devine, niece Jamie Gibby, and sister-in-law Sharon Devine. She is survived by other relatives and many friends. Mary is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Virginia, and brother Patrick. At this time, no services have been planned.
Jose De Jesus Garcia Nuño, 78, of Racine, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at home surrounded by his family. He was born on September 12, 1942 in Zapotlanejo, Jalisco, Mexico. Born the son of Domitilo Garcia and Maria Nuño. He married Blasa Maldonado. Jose enjoyed going for walks, listening to music, watching soccer, and fishing. He enjoyed going to casinos and lottery. He enjoyed taking care of animals and farming. More than anything he cherished the time spent with his family. Jose will be deeply missed by his wife Blasa Maldonado, children Jose, Antonio, Guadalupe, Miguel, Salvador, and Francisco Garcia. He will be missed by seventeen grandchildren, brother Ramon, and sister Camren. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Jose is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and four sisters. Funeral Services for Jose will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at 12 p.m. at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church, Father Juan Manuel Camacho officiating. The family will receive guests on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at the funeral home from 5 until 8 p.m. and again on Thursday, September 17, 2020 prior to the mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. up until the service starting at noon. Riley Cole Crisman, 24, of Hartland, passed away on Sunday, October 18, 2020 at home. He was born on August 11, 1996 in Libertyville, Illinois. Born the son of John R. and Vikki J. (NEE: Snow) Crisman. Riley loved to listen and play music. Riley will be dearly missed by his mother Vikki Crisman, and brothers John R. Crisman, III and Wesley Crisman. He will be missed by grandmothers Linda Snow and Kathleen French. Riley is survived by many cousin, aunts, uncles, and friends. Riley is preceded in death by his father John R. Crisman, grandfather William R. Snow, and cousin Dane S. Bauer. Private family services and burial were held at Highland Memorial in Libertyville, Illinois.
Dale Mattison, 66, of Racine, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2020 at his home. He was born on August 24, 1954 in Burlington Wisconsin, the son of Rudolph and Ann Mattison (NEE: Lovrek). Dale was united in marriage to Sulema Sauceda on November 11, 1972, who preceded him in death on May 28, 2018. Dale served his country in the United States Navy and was employed at Super Steel as a welder until his retirement in 1996. Dale loved to fish and watch Sci-Fi movies, as well as working on cars and was what you would call a “tinkerer” but mostly Dale loved his dog Ruffis. Dale will be deeply missed by his daughters and sons in-law Annie and Oscar (Mattison) Wells, Elsa and Kevin (Sauceda) Novine, son Dale Mattison Jr, brothers Rudolph and Eddie, and sister Pattie, grandchildren Jose, Scott, Monica (Sam), and Tony (Kristy) Sauceda, Hannue, Josh, Andrew, Brittany, Bre-Bre, Richard, and Malik Mattison, Cornelius, Sabrina, Emily, Shay, Chambria, Little Oscar, Nefertiti, and Nyasia Wells, as well as many other great grandchildren, brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Roberto Salinas, 87, of Mount Pleasant, passed away on Thursday, October 15, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. He was born on April 15, 1933 in Mexico. Born the son of Santo Santiago and Magdalena (NEE: Varela) Salinas. Roberto married Valentina Perez in 1953. Roberto enjoyed buying cars, boats, and motorcycles; anything with a motor. He liked to hang out with friends and spend time with his family. One of his hobbies was horse training. Roberto will be dearly missed by his wife Valentina, and children Sylvia Salinas (Emiliano Contreras), Roberto (Fabiola) Salinas, Juan C Salinas (Marlys) Laura (Ignacio) Perez, Doreen (Alfredo) Guajardo, Jesus N. (Mireyra) Salinas, Sergio (Valerie) Salinas, Cristina Salinas, Miguel Salinas, Gabriel (Ruth) Salinas, Flory (Javier) Sandoval, Rodolfo V. Salinas, Pamela Salinas, Brenda (Luis A.Valencia) and Bernardo Salinas. Valerie Jean Jarstad, 66, of Racine, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2020 at home. She was born on October 15, 1953 in Superior, Wisconsin. Born the daughter of Melfred and Dorothy (NEE: Sandlin) Anderson. Valerie was more reserved; she enjoyed reading, watching television, and playing hand held Yahtzee and Canasta in her free time. Valerie will be dearly missed by her children Donna Jarstad, Heidi (Thomas) Mentch, and Jeffrey Michael Jarstad. She will also be missed by grandchildren Samantha, Heather, Thomas Jr., Holly, and Seth, and two great-grandchildren Lilli and Grey. Valerie is survived by sisters Edie, Brenda, and Gail, and brothers Bruce and Albert. She is survived by many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Valerie is preceded in death by her parents, great-granddaughter Hailyn, brother Bill Anderson, brother-in-law Rueben Davisson, and the father of her children Marvin Jarstad. A memorial gathering will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Strouf Funeral home from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. Private burial will take place per Valerie’s wishes.
Rosa Morales Garibay, 84, of Racine, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones.
She was born on June 8, 1936 in Cotulla, Texas, born to Rosalio and Luisa (nee: Sanchez) Morales.
Rosa retired from Great Northern Corporation after 25 years as a stitcher machine operator. There she broke many records and was recognized for superior work performance.
Rosa was a die hard Green Bay Packer fan. She enjoyed scratching-off bingo lottery tickets. She truly enjoyed cooking for her family. One of her greatest passions was her flower garden, which to many was the pride of the neighborhood.
She was very creative and made sure that her house was decorated for every season and holiday.
More than anything in the world she cherished her family and the time spent together.
Rosa’s favorite quote while placing her hands on heart “mis hijos e nietos son mi vida”.
Survived by her children Luis (Eloisa) Ramos, Rosa (Johnny) Espinoza, and Anna (Marcos) Verdiguel, as well as grandchildren Soleda, Fransica, Luisa, Heriberto (Janet), Maribel Blanca (Miles), Dominque (Vanessa), Angelique (Edwin), Homero, Xavier, and Andres. Also her 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Her siblings Natividad, Jesse (Sophia) Morales, Jane Serra, Maria Morales, and Fransica Morales.
She will be deeply missed by her friend Laura Garza, and special pet Drago, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mackie W. McKinney, 65, passed away on November 6, 2020 at home. He married his wife Nancy Corbeille on April 30, 1988 in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Mackie worked as a computer numerical controlled machinist. Mackie enjoyed working on cars, riding his motorcycle, and playing the guitar left-handed and upside down. He went and bought a corvette without Nancy ever knowing, but his friends crashed it before he got the chance to enjoy it. Mackie will eb dearly missed by his wife Nancy, four children, and many grand and great-grandchildren. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Mackie is preceded in death by his parents and three children. Winnie Ruth Morris, 89, of Racine, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Ascension All Saints Hospital. She was born on July 14, 1931 in New Albany, Mississippi, the daughter of Charlie and Fannie Lou (NEE: Cobb) Morris. Winnie worked at St. Luke's Medical Center in the dietary department. Winnie loved flowers and shopping at thrift stores. She had a heart of gold and was so selfless. She cared about helping people and made sure that everyone knew they were always welcome in her home. Winnie will be deeply missed by her sons Jimmy Lee Morris, Billy W. Morris, Charles N. (Bonnita) Morris, and Dearrl Anthony Morris. She will also be dearly missed by grandchildren Kendrick, Amanda, Taylor, Tomeko, Nicki, Tiffany, Ruby, Denise, Wayne, Ayzha, Cara, Alexandra, and Marvell, and godchildren Quadra and Alex. She is survived by her sisters Jewelene and Doris and brother Rolan, as well as a host of great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Veronica Lydia Raya - St. Patrick’s
Veronica Lydia Raya, 34, of Racine, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 1, 1987, in Illinois, the daughter of Ofelio Raya and Anna Maria Herrera. Veronica was very into fashion; she loved shopping and styling. She enjoyed going on trips with her children, and hanging out with family and friends. More than anything she was very family oriented; she lived for her children; they were her entire world. Veronica will be deeply missed by children Yalena, Elianna, and Aydan. She will be dearly missed by her siblings Angelica (Zeena) Raya, Corrine Ramirez, and Alfredo Raya. She will be missed by her partner Javier Estrada, and best friend Trishell Lovelace. Veronica is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends. Veronica is preceded in death by her parents Ofelio and Anna Maria, and brother Santiago. A memorial mass will be held on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Saint Patrick’s Catholic Church (1100 Erie Street) at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive guests on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Dinah L. Sparks (nee: Wilkening) passed away peacefully on January 21st, 2021 after a brave battle with cancer. She was born to parents Thomas and Marjorie Wilkening in Vancouver, B.C. on October 4th, 1943. Dinah was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister. She is survived by her husband William Sparks, her sons Thomas Sparks (Brittany Sparks) of Racine, WI, Andrew Sparks (Erin Sparks) of Waterford, WI & daughter Deb Torres of Edinburg, TX; her sister Joan Wilkening, brothers Christopher Wilkening, Peter Wilkening and five grandchildren, Gage, Sander, Avery, Caldwell and Lena. She is also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews. Dinah was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Mark Stephen Petersen, 65, of Racine, passed away on Monday, January 18, 2021 at Ascension All Saints Hospital. He was born on April 8, 1955 in Racine, Wisconsin. Born the son of Elmer Petersen and Dolores Szymanski. Mark married Juanita Gerardo on April 8, 1990 in Racine, Wisconsin. Mark enjoyed going on walks with his son Aaron and their late dog. He liked to watch television, especially the Green Bay Packer’s play football. Mark will be missed dearly by his wife Juanita, and sons Aaron Petersen and Maurice Corrie. He will be deeply missed by his sister Cindy Muechler and Sancho the Cat. Mark is preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Dolores. A Celebration of Life will be held at a let date to COVID-19.
Scott Allen Taylor, 50, of Racine, passed away on January 16, 2021 at home. He was born August 8, 1970 in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Born the son of Louis Taylor and Mary Ashe. Scott was known for being an avid Packers fan. He liked to spend time with his friends and family. More than anything he like being a “Grill Master” at social gatherings. He was a thorough car enthusiast to say the least. He is preceded in death by his parents Louis and Mary. Scott will be deeply missed by his sons, Lee White and Lance Joings. He will be missed by his granddaughter Parley and three other grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by his two sisters Stephanie Valore and Tracie Taylor. He is survived by nieces and nephews Sabrina Taylor, Anthony Taylor, Isaiah Jordan, Daniel Taylor, and Samantha Taylor. He is survived by a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, and friends. A celebration of life will be held at a later date due to COVID-19.
