We treat heroes here at Sunshine Dentists! SGT Warren Martin was deployed to Vietnam from April 1968-June 1969 with his unit, the 20th Engineer Batallion. They resurfaced and built roads from Pliku to Kontum, Vietnam. SGT Martin was a surveyor. After returning to the US, he was awarded a Bronze Star. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you Mr Martin for answering the call of service when your nation needed you most. 🇺🇸

Yesterday I had an important reminder of why I love my profession so much. A fairly new patient brought me a beautiful oil painting she had created. She said it was, “from one artist to another”. I was so honored that she gave me this beautiful treasure. It’s already hanging in our office!
I was also flattered that she recognized my specialty as art. Each tooth I treat and each smile I enhance is an ‘art project’ with a vision in my mind how I want it to look. I often share this vision with my patients using models or photos, but sometimes it requires faith on their part. It’s like I’ve been ‘commissioned’ to create a beautiful tooth or smile! I love what I do and I honor the trust I’m given each day. ❤️

Acid erosion had taken away so much tooth and our patient was trying to avoid crowns, so we had to reshape his teeth carefully with composites. The Bioclear matrix system gets all the right contours and closes dark spaces between teeth (black triangles) as well as the erosion areas. What a difference! Anesthesia was only needed on one tooth.

Sometimes little spaces and wear can make teeth look older and it puts them at risk for breaking. Dr Donohue’s patient wanted more youthful looking teeth with minimal drilling. We found a great solution in a combination of 2 crowns and 3 cosmetic bondings. It was conservative and fit her budget. And most importantly, she loves her smile again. She said she will soon enhance her lower teeth as well. 🤩

Total Transformation Thursday! I know the top picture is a bit graphic, but this is what severe gum disease and smoking looks like. Our patient is a successful professional and wasn’t happy about how things looked or felt in his mouth.
Dr Fred Liu from Fairfax Oral Surgery and Ed Loyola from @visionartistdentallab made this day possible. Carefully crafted temporaries and some strategically placed implants were done in one morning. Also known as “teeth in a day” (or a morning in this case!). 😁 I feel blessed to be able to help a patient in this way.
