Dr. Almonte is a board certified adult, child and adolescent psychiatrist, bilingual in English and Spanish. She obtained her medical degree at Universidad Tecnologica Del Cibao (UTECI) at the Dominican Republic. She completed her residency and fellowship training at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. While in her residency training she obtained her Psychodynamic Psychotherapy training at New York Medical College.
Dr. Almonte has been involved in teaching since she was in medical school where she participated as a teacher assistant for junior medical students. During her fellowship training she was chief resident and after completing her training she was the psychiatric Clerkship Director of the American University of the Caribbean.
Her career in medicine has developed from her early involvement in community services. In Dominican Republic she was actively involved as a volunteer in public health issues and her interest in psychiatry started while attending medical school as she was seeing cases that initially appeared just to have physical symptoms and after further investigation it was found an emotional component. When she started her psychiatric training she confirmed her desire to work and care for the mentally ill patients and acquired extensive experience in managing different psychiatric disorders. She is up to date with the current advancements in the field of Psychiatry.
