Happy Father's Day from Our Family to Yours 💙
Here are the final two topics from the "Kill The 6 Assassins" segment of The Purpose Playbook by Kyle Dendy.
Accountability – If you have everything lined up, you can still fail or give up if you don’t hold yourself accountable. Motivational highs do fade and you can’t live on that alone. For example, you decide you will exercise 4 times per week starting January 2nd! If you don’t tell anyone about the goal, you can easily talk yourself out of going to the gym on January 18th because nobody knows about your goal. But if one or two of your friends are going to meet you at the gym, you are more likely to get up and go. You’re being held accountable. Make a list of 5 people who you believe are qualified accountability partners because of their integrity and reliability.
The Fear of Failure – A black door is something you desire to do, but the fear of failure holds you back from going through it. How bad do you truly desire to do it? Are you willing to work hard to achieve it? Les Brown is quoted as saying “People fail in life not because they aim too high and miss but because they aim too low and hit.” No matter what your current situation looks like right now, no matter your age, no matter your background, your life has NO shortage of opportunities – Dates with destiny that could change your life forever! “Stop living as if the purpose of life is to arrive safely at death.” – Mark Batterson.
You’re not here by accident, so stop living like it! If you have failed in the past, don’t let that failure keep you from trying again. Internal voices (and external voices) may tell you to quit – but press on toward the goal. Not every person is going to understand your gift, your dream, your vision, or your purpose. And people that aren’t living their dream may not want you living yours. Misery loves company. And remember, every successful person has failed at one time or another! You will also fail! Get Up and try again! Another reason people fail is the lack of exposure to success. They never see great things happen for people they know, so it makes them skeptical when opportunities present themselves. But when you catch a glimpse of how limitless the possibilities are, you begin to expand your vision. You begin to see that the gifts God gave you can flip the world and flip your life upside down. If an opportunity presents itself where you are able to make your life better, and make the life for your children better….and your childrens’ children, seize it! And be consistent! Don’t miss destiny because you lacked consistency. No creator creates something with the intent that it will fail. God did not create you to fail. God has given you everything you need at the precise moment you need it. This does not mean that every “good” thing you attempt is going to work. Your great idea may come 2 years before it’s time. You fail and give up! Don’t do that. You must try again. It’s your time, but it’s God’s timing!
Finally, people often fail because their definition of success is wrong to begin with. There is nothing wrong with fame, fortune or power. These are often achieved when you have success and make an impact on the world, but this does not change the fact that true success is “the purpose of a thing fulfilled.” You become a success when you do what you were created to do and work toward being the best version of yourself.
Have A Great Weekend!
Sincerely,
Kyle Davis
Here is Part 2 of 3 from the "Kill The 6 Assassins" segment of The Purpose Playbook.
Association – You become like the 5 people you spend the most time with. So, surround yourself with people going in the same direction. When you begin to rub elbows with greatness, greatness begins to rub off on you. Oliver Wendell Homes “The mind of man, once stretched by a new idea or experience, never returns back to its original dimensions.” Be careful you’re not sharing big dreams with small minded people and sarcastic people. While it may be a joking matter to them, the words they speak are planted in your mind as seeds. You can’t expect everyone to see what you see. Make sure don’t have a toxic inner circle around you. People who always say something negative, that are sarcastic about everything, people that are unmotivated and have no goals, people who are always gossiping, people with a jealous chip on their shoulder, who have the intent to destroy your creative vision, or those who can’t keep their mouth shut. If a person shows no sign of change or desire to change, bless and release.
Insecurity – All human beings deal with some fashion of insecurity. We have a subconscious tendency to read too much into things, to confirm biases we already have about things, and to assume the worst. Every person which you believe is judging you, in reality, has far too many things on their own mind to spend time thinking about or judging you. Studies tell us that we have 50,000 – 70,000 thoughts per day. Fears, anxieties, worries, places to be and things to do. So other people may not be paying attention to you, but in the event they are judging you, let that be their problem, not yours. Stop focusing on the pieces that you don’t have and focus on the masterpiece that you are, made one of a kind for a unique purpose. When you focus on what you lack, you miss what you have. Like holding a dime right up to your eye, it blocks your vision, but when you move it away and put it in its proper perspective, it’s just a small thing. When you focus on small things enough, they cause you to miss everything else happening around you. Our minds are like a garden and the thoughts, words and beliefs instilled in us by others are the seeds that will grow if watered. That means we must be cautious about who we surround ourselves with. Will those around you water your insecurities with negative words? We should be intentional about who we spend most of our time around. We should also stop seeking the approval of other people in order to feel secure, but rather to affirm ourselves by knowing our value. Wake up every day and say to yourself “I know who I am and what I’m worth!” and “I’m a child of God with the Holy Spirit within me, there is no one like me.” “All things are possible with Christ who strengthens me!” Because we live in an era where social media is prominent, we are able to see what everyone else is doing, which thrusts us into the comparison game. But these posts and uploads are misleading. People can easily portray that they’re living their best life based on the angle of the pictures they share. The picture tells a thousand words, but leaves out millions. If much of your time is spent watching the lives of others, you’re probably not building your own. Go Find Your Awesome! Get off the computer, get off the couch, discover the gifts you have, find the mission you were called to and run toward the vision God has created in you. The only way to stop comparing yourself to someone else’s lane is to get off the sideline and run in yours.
thanks,
Kyle
I wanted to share a great segment from Kyle Dendy's book The Purpose Playbook.
There is lots of text, so this will be a 3-part post.
Hope you enjoy!
Your individual purpose on this earth is not like anyone else’s in eternity! You can succeed with the cards in your hand because they are the exact cards you were dealt.
The “secrets to success” have been proven, and tested, and shared for thousands of years, but people still hope for a shortcut. They want to achieve success without discipline, without working hard for it, without proper time management, planning, persistence, and every other basic principle.
Would you like to know which diet and exercise plan will get you the results you’re looking for? The one you stick with! The same is true with all of the basic principles of success. You must kill the 6 Assassins!
Procrastination – If you don’t learn how to stop procrastinating, you can forget about ever fulfilling your purpose, and forget about ever completing things of real value. The biggest accomplishments are found in the smallest tasks executed daily for extended periods of time. You have to make up your mind to choose working toward your purpose rather than a Netflix Marathon. I’m not against watching Netflix, playing games, or having a good time with people in your life, but each of us has been allotted only 24 hours in each day. Use them wisely. So, crush your excuses and pull toward the purpose you were created for. There are people in this world who are depending on what you are called to do. Look at your country. Look at your community. Look at your family. I’m writing about purpose because the world needs yours. The reason you may procrastinate is because you have nothing you are aiming at, nothing you’re moving toward, and no sense of purpose in your life. Procrastination is like a lazy river in which you go around so many times that you forget how long you’ve been in it and you don’t want to leave because you’ve found comfort in the rhythm. So get a clear vision of something to aim for, something to live for. You’re not moving toward anything by “going with the flow.” No one hits the bullseye if they have no aim.
Limiting Beliefs – Too many people have insecurities that have spawned from foolish thoughts and opinions from others, insecurities that were not cut short when they came up. This keeps a person from stepping into much of the greatness and achievement that lies within them – settling for “okay” until they’ve sprinkled their “okay” dust on everything God is trying to do in their life. “Okay” is simply all they know. And until a person knows that more is possible, they always settle for less. To distance yourself from the land of less might mean cutting off the wrong kind of people from your life – bless and release – the kind of people who are constantly bringing negative energy, complaints, etc. Leaving the land of less might mean you unfollow on Instagram, unfriend on Facebook – the people that are always talking about how bad the world is and posting content that does nothing but create division. We need to find people who think on the level of our future, who have not time for gossip and complaining. Maybe we should be reading books about people who are living lives of meaning and purpose – who are providing you with clues on how to achieve your meaning and purpose.
Use discernment to seize the right opportunities. Don’t trust a person just because they have “followers” and don’t neglect a person simply because they do not. One meeting, one encounter with one ordinary person may be all it takes to push you from the land of ordinary to the land of extraordinary. Purpose is never found in the nest of comfort and familiarity. Tell yourself every day, “Not only can I fly, but I was born to!”
thanks,
Kyle😀

Dallas County Judge Revises Order for Construction Industry
During the day we worry that we won’t have enough time to get everything done. At night, we worry if we did everything correctly earlier today. We replay conversations that we had and wonder if we said the right things, or whether we were misunderstood. We beat ourselves up if we said something foolish. We worry about our marriage, or whether we will ever be married if we’re single. We worry about our families, about our jobs, about our ability to pay our bills. When we’re at work, we’re thinking about problems at home and when we’re at home, we’re thinking about problems at work. “Worrying is like sitting in a rocking chair. It gives you something to do, but it doesn’t get you anywhere.” This quote from Erma Bombeck reminds me that my constant worry will not change the outcome. Sometimes we spin our wheels while we dwell on the problem. Our constant worry amplifies the problem and prevents us from being solutions-oriented. It prevents us from overflowing. Worry leads to fear and fear leads to hopelessness….and hopelessness will chip away at your convictions. Almost all of our fears grow as we imagine negative outcomes, expecting the worst. FEAR (Fantasized Experiences Appearing Real). It’s often made stronger in our minds, hindering our ability to step forward in faith. This is reflected in Mark Twain’s words - “I have lived a long life and had many troubles, most of which never happened.” Fear and worry alter our perception of a problem to where it seems bigger than it is. Worry and Faith work in opposition to one another, like light and darkness.
C.S. Lewis wrote “Faith…is the art of holding on to things your reason has once accepted, in spite of your changing moods.” Our moods, our emotions - such as fear, exert quite an influence on our behavior. Unless mastered, fear can destroy our trust in what we know to be true.
Philippians 4: 6-7 tells us “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”
Sometimes our default tendency is to trust in ourselves and lean on our own understanding. However, life’s challenging and fearful situations can be our best opportunities to realize God’s strength. These valleys teach us to lean on Him. Overcoming these challenges will grow our confidence in God and His involvement in our lives.
Ephesians 6:18 - “And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.”
Being alert means preparing to face life’s challenges before they hit us and asking God for the strength to get through it before it happens, and while it happens ..and thanking Him after it happens.
“Now may the Lord of peace Himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.”– 2 Thessalonians 3:16
“Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.”
– Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
“Courage is being scared to death, but saddling up anyway.”
– John Wayne
“You may give out, but never give up.”
– Mary Crowley
“On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand. All other ground is sinking sand.”
– Edward Mote
