Frederick W. Barker, MD, FACS is a Bluefield, Virginia-based expert and breast care specialist with over 30 years of experience working in the field.
Dr. Barker received his bachelor’s of science degree in animal and veterinary science from the West Virginia University in Morgantown, West Virginia, and continued related studies in a graduate program at the same school. It wasn’t until 1981 that Dr. Barker specialized in surgery during his general surgery residency at Bridgeport Hospital in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
Since completing his residency in 1986, Dr. Barker has worked in countless prestigious medical institutions across the country, focusing on general surgery and, ultimately, on breast care.
Dr. Barker is board-certified and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is an MQSA certified mammographer, who work has been published in countless academic journals, whose thoughts in the field have attracted invitations to speak in public, and whose relentless passion for his field has led to an extraordinary career. It’s no surprise, then, that his patients express nothing but gratitude and content with the services he provides.
