Outsourcing of Oklahoma's Medicaid program has begun by the release of the RFP. The CEO of the Healthcare Authority says it will not cost the state, thus you the taxpayers, any more money. In this respect, here is a number to remember, $6400. This is the cost per recipient today to provide the broadest access to medical care of practically any Medicaid program in the nation, the key indicator of quality healthcare outcomes.
Imagine how much it will cost you, the taxpayer, to add this middleman to our Medicaid program if the cost goes up just $1000. This will cost you nearly a BILLION dollars, money that could be spent on core services, or dare I say, not taken from you in the first place.
This is an Oklahoma last, #OklahomaLast, policy, that puts the profits of out of state billion dollar middleman companies over Oklahoma healthcare professionals and the patients they care for.

🦠👩🏼⚕️ I’ve been doing Covid Critical Care work going on 8 months now.... Boston, Phoenix and now Parkland Dallas. Our numbers at Parkland have tripled in past 20 days and we opened an additional unit yesterday. One of the Intensivists remarked yesterday that society is getting “pandemic fatigue”.... we all just want life to be “normal” again, so many don’t take the precautions necessary any more. We all need to be diligent in our precautions and pray a vaccine will be successful. Sounds like July will be the soonest that will happen.
Please Wear a mask, be smart, pray fervently for an end to this pandemic. 😷
This too shall pass....

The post below is from my long time friend Steve Douglas of the Harvey-Douglas Funeral Home here in Ardmore and his terrible experience with Covid 19. Steve has known my family since long before I was even born. Steve made it through his sickness with covid but his dear wife, Jane, did not. Pray for continued healing for Steve and his family.

Fri Dec 4th I came in from putting out some hay to the cows…walking from the barn to the house, I noticed I had started a different kind of cough…went into the house and Jane was having it as well, but different from her usual.
We sat here lookin at each other and coughing.” Jane, I think we got the virus?” “Probably, sez Jane” So we puttered around, took some aspirin, gargled, found some outta date cough syrup, so took it…we felt like it helped and was getting better, so we went to bed…next day still coughing and not feeling too good…She cancelled a birthday for a son, (do not come down son we, may have COVID-19.) We had all been exposed via funeral home, Walmart, etc., even though we wore masks, washed and used sanitizer…By Monday were getting worse, had appointment with Dr. Jeffry Rother, MD. on Tuesday the 8th, Yup we both tested Positive suggested hospital…but no room. So, we returned home with some antibiotics and new cough syrup…We Dr each other, not getting better…then evening of Dec 10th Jane said I think I need to go on to bed, she was an early to bed and early to rise girl. As I was helping her down the hall, “I don’t think I can make it…she rested against wall as I grabbed a chair, she rested a bit…Ok let’s go, got further along, needed to rest again, finally into bedroom, helping her to the bed, she laid down, said pick up my leg its off bed, I picked it up…turned looked at her and she just Died right then…no struggle, no gasps, just a few chain breaths…then quiet. I called a Sam; his wife is a RN at Mercy. She said to call 911, I did, knowing too late…a bit later, son Sam came in…then EMTs arrived, took some equipment in then, Sam is terribly upset. Son, Darrin arrives…same…their wives along with grandson, Jane had raised…other son comes with funeral coach…then the sons and wives gently move Jane and placer in the coach.
I stay home, Sam, Tammy and Ethan stay with me… that night and for several days.
Home health comes down Tuesday, 15th, she said, get him to the hospital, so Sam loads me up in Jane’s car an off to Ardmore’s Mercy hospital. At the ER, Sam must leave, Nurse takes me in…and I cannot believe the sight, people packed in waiting room, many in a bad way…well I get checked in and windup in the ER, it too is packed, set me against a wall, (another sick feller across from me we look at each other, no visiting, some girl takes an Xray, then, Physician comes and kneels by me. You have COVID-19 Pneumonia, your daughter in law Tammy is upstairs with COVID-19 Pneumonia and blood clot in her lungs. I need to talk to another Dr. and see if we can admit you. In a bit, Dr. John Yung Park comes in, visits a bit…goes to door, turns and says,” I am going to admit you.” Continued stay in ER several hours as upstairs was packed…late that night nurses move me upstairs to room. And they go to work! Next morning, Dr. Girish Murthy comes, in explains some things and treatment. There for 6 days, Dr Murthy says, I am gonna dismiss you, I was better. Sam picks me up and we return to the Bar Lazy D, at Overbrook, IT.
Go to Dr 28th, X-Ray shows pneumonia still present, to take another Xray Jan 11th.
Since being home, Ideal Home Health comes regularly, nurses, Physical Therapy fella, I continue to recover with their help, and most of all by the support my family continues to give…AND BUY THE GRACE OF GOD, HE MUST HAVE A PLAN FOR AN 85-YEAR-OLD CODGER!
While I was hospitalized, my wife of 59 years, funeral service was conducted in our Harvey-Douglas FH Chapel, the sons, Brian, Darrin, Sam, John T. and the rest of our staff. Service was Dec 18th (I attended while in hospital via a laptop and live stream. Chaplain Aaron was with me, beautiful service.)
I must say I do not know of any physicians, nurses, hospital staff from kitchen, up to the top that could have been any better. Absolutely no complaints, only praises. They are all under tremendous pressure, putting their own lives and family on the line, to help the sick and dying.
The COVID-19 continues to rampage Ardmore area, hospital packed out over full, I pray God reaches out and gives them a hand…and maybe puts a stop to this foolishness."
