ATTENTION CUSTOMERS!!
We are happy to announce that the track will be open on Monday, June 22nd!! Due to COVID-19, we must try our best to continue to social distance while in the track area. Open practice will be on a first come first serve basis. The track area will be limited to 25 people at a time. Every pit table can only hold 2 people. X's have been placed on areas of the pit table where you cannot pit. You will be allowed a max of 4 hours in the track area (this does not include races). You are able to stay more than 4 hours if there is no one waiting to take your spot.
Races will be held every Friday and Sunday. There is a max of 25 racers. To race, you must sign up in advance. Signups will open every Monday at 10:00am for the following Friday and Sunday race days. To sign up for a race, you MUST call us at (253)565-1935. You cannot not sign up to race both Friday and Sunday due to the limited number of racers allowed in the track area. If your hope is to race both days, you can be placed on a list as an alternate for the race day that you are not signed up for. Once a race day is at full capacity, we will post an update on both our Facebook page and website. There will be no spectators allowed in the track area, but there is an exception for racers 12 and under. Racers 12 and under will be allowed one parent/guardian in the track area with them.
The track area has plenty of room to practice social distancing. Temperature checks will be taken upon arrival to verify health. The driver’s stand is clearly marked for a maximum of 6 drivers at a time and operates at a specific direction, entry from the left side (looking at the stand) and exit on the right side. Controlled practice will be running at all times for a 10-minute session. If you need something from the hobby shop while you are using the track, please proceed out the back door and respect the 3-person limit in the hobby shop. There may be a line.

Face coverings are recommended inside the hobby shop and track area, but they are not mandatory. We know this a difficult time and we are taking every precaution into account to ensure the health and safety of both our customers and staff. Attention Customers: As the whole world navigates COVID-19, Tacoma R/C Raceway is no different. Washington state is not moving in the right direction to allow us to host this years 2020 Northwest Goldcup. Unfortunately, we must cancel this years Goldcup. TRCR is still operating at a 25% capacity, which does not work for hosting a major event.
Remember we are still club racing every Friday and Sunday with a limit of 25 racers.
NIS round #1 is still hopeful for the first weekend of November(7th-8th). We will keep you posted!!

WE are breaking down the track today, Wednesday August 26th. The track will be closed today and tomorrow for a new layout. If you can come and help with the new design, we could really use your help all day tomorrow, Thursday August 27th. Back open Friday August 28th for practice and racing. Thanks
Tacoma R/C Update:
As we all navigate this new normal with Covid-19, we wanted to give everyone some information. Currently, we are operating under a limited occupancy allowing only 25 people in the track area at one time. Masks are mandatory in the hobby shop and track area at all times!!! Racing on Fridays at 6pm and Sundays at 1pm. You must signup prior to the races, which opens the Monday before. The hobby shop is limited to 3 customers at a time, while operating Monday-Friday 10am-6pm, Saturday-Sunday 10am-8pm.
With the 2020-2021 race schedule up in the air, we still need to change the current layout. We have decided to do a track change in 2 weeks, August 26th-27th. The track change will be a bit different. Most of the help will be needed on Thursday the 27th, we are going to be completely tearing up the track on the 26th and then put the new layout in on the 27th.
Here is a heads up for a "TENTATIVE" 2020-2021 race season:

Attention Customers:
I'm super excited that we have figured out a way to hold the 2020-2021 Northwest Indoor Series November 7th-8th!! It's definitely going to be different this year, but I know everyone wants to race just as bad as we do. Let's get down to how this series is going to happen.
Format: Saturday/Sunday split venue.
Saturday Classes: 2wd Stock 17.5T Buggy, 4wd Stock 13.5T Buggy, 2wd Stadium 13.5T Racing Truck, and 1/10th Truggy.
Sunday Classes: 2wd Mod Buggy, 4wd Mod Buggy, 2wd Pro Stock Buggy, and 2wd 40+ Mod Buggy
Entries for each day are limited to 35 racers(no spectators/only racers). Each racer must race at least 2 classes. You cannot race both days unless there is availability 24 hours prior to the event.
For social distancing guidelines we can still only have 6 people on the driver's stand at one time so:
5 qualify for the main and one bump up, total 6 car main events.
5 minute triple A-mains and 6 minute lower mains.
Doors open at 7am and racing starts at 8am. 3 qualifiers and main events.
Track layout will be installed October 29th, so everyone has ample time to get practice in.
Signups will open Saturday October 31st, 9am. At this time, we are not sure what process we are going to use to register, either online or by phone. As soon as we determine the best way, we will let everyone know.

Wow what a weekend!! You guys are awesome, because we are completely full for Saturday and only a couple spots left for Sunday!! The 2020-2021 Northwest Indoor Series is going to happen and you guys are going to make it amazing.
Remember Saturday classes include: 2WD Stock Buggy, 4WD 13.5 Buggy, 13.5 Racing Truck, and 4wd Truggy. Sunday classes include: 2WD Mod Buggy, 4WD Mod Buggy, 40+ 2WD Mod Buggy, and 17.5 Pro Stock Buggy. You must run a minimum of 2 classes.
We will not being holding any club races on Friday November 6th, we will be having a reserved day of practice. Saturday racer's have a guaranteed practice session on Friday from 10am-3pm. Sunday racer's have a guaranteed practice session on Friday from 3pm-8pm. We will also have practice each morning, Saturday and Sunday, from 7am-8:15am with racing starting at 8:30am.

Due to another state mandate put in place starting Wednesday, November 18th, the track area will no longer be open for the time being. This means no customers are allowed in the track area, there will be no open practice and no races.
The hobby shop WILL remain open!! It will be limited to 3 people at a time and we ask that everyone please social distance and we do require face masks to enter the building. If you do not have a face mask, we will provide you with one. Our store hours will change and they are as follows: everyday 10am-6pm. We are available for both in person service and curbside service. Attention Customers:
As you all know the governor has put a statewide mandate in effect that stops us from having the track open at this time. Round #2 for the Northwest Indoor Series was scheduled to happen this coming weekend. We have postponed it. We are trying to figure out if it is possible to find another date later in the series to make it up. We will keep you posted when or if that happens. As for now the next race is still planned for January 23rd-24th, 2021. If we can hold that event, it will more than likely happen exactly like round #1, a two-day format, 35 people per day, and 4 classes each day. I'm sorry I don't have better news.. Hopefully the track will be back open soon, cross your fingers.

Starting Monday, January 4th TRCR will operate the hobby shop and track area at 25% capacity. Hours will remain the same from 10am-6pm everyday. Tacoma R/C Raceway’s 2020-2021 Northwest Indoor Series, Round #2 will be held January 23rd-24th. Saturday, January 23rd will offer 2WD Stock Buggy, 4WD 13.5T Buggy, Stadium Truck 13.5T Stock, and 4WD Truggy. Sunday, January 24th will offer 2WD Modified Buggy, 4WD Modified Buggy, 40+ 2WD Modified Buggy, and 2WD 17.5T Pro Stock Buggy. Each day will be limited to 35 people and you must run at least 2 classes. You can only signup for one day, if room permits 24 hours prior to the event a person can run both days.
TRCR will start taking entries for NIS on Saturday, January 16th at 9:00am by phone call only. There was a lot of different ideas about how to do this fairly, so with the current signup program that has been working great, we decided to stick with the same format.
Another question that has come up is the parental support for younger racers. We have thought about the age cutoff and decided that anyone under the age of 16 can be accompanied by one adult, given the fact that they must be driven to the track and are from the same household.
The same rules are in effect about the conduct of the racer's regarding wearing their masks and social distancing. You must always wear a mask in the facility, this includes the hobby shop, driver's stand, track, pit area, and so on. The hobby shop is still limited to only 3 people at one time.
Track change will be this week on Thursday January 14th. This should give everyone adequate time to get practice in on the new layout. During round #1, the track will open at 7:00am and races start at 8:00am both Saturday and Sunday. There will be one hour of open controlled practice each day.
We are so grateful to everyone that has worked with us in these crazy times. COVID-19 has changed the way we conduct business and we hope that everyone will continue to make the best of this terrible situation.

As Washington moves forward to reopen, it effects every business in a different way. Last week we announced that Tacoma R/C and JConcepts decided to relocate the Spring Nationals due to limitations from Covid-19.
Since we have that date marked, May 1st-2nd, this gives us the opportunity to make up the NIS race that got cancelled. We are going to continue the same race format, stock day on Saturday and mod day on Sunday. Limited to 35 racers each day.
So long story short, the NIS is back to a 5 race series. Points will be determined on your best 4 out of 5 races. The series finally will now be May 1st-2nd.
Tacoma RC Raceway along with JConcepts, has made the decision to re-locate the Spring Indoor Nationals scheduled for April 30th – May 2nd , 2021. Because of local guidelines and regulations in the state of Washington with regards to Covid-19, the track area would be unable to support the capacity of racers scheduled to attend the event. Filling in under short notice, SS Hobbies & Raceway in Tampa, Florida, has agreed to host the event.
