These are littermates - one was neutered pediatrically, the other left intact. Notice the permanent puppy-like body of the dog on the left. His head is narrow, his chest is narrow, his angulation is bad, he's taller than he is long because growth plates don't get the proper signals from testosterone or estrogen on when to close. This is what pediatric neuter does to your dog. It leaves them more susceptible to an incredible amount of health issues (joint issues, multiple types of cancer). Meanwhile, the only fact in favor of early neutering is to prevent unwanted litters which can be prevented by not letting your dog roam - something we should already be on top of as responsible dog owners. Dogs need hormones to grow and mature properly. Do your dog a favor and wait until he's completely matured before neutering!

When I see people with overweight dogs and I ask them how much they are feeding their animal, the response I receive is usually, “I only give them a cup/ two cups of food a day!” Logically, it’s not hard to determine, based on the size of their obese critter, that either the statement isn’t true or the dog is getting a gross amount of supplemental food in the form of treats/table scraps.
It has taken me a while to realize that most pet owners consider any receptacle from their kitchen that holds kibble “a cup.” All three of these are “cups” from my kitchen. One holds 4 cups, one holds 2 cups, and the metal cup on the right is the actual measurement of 8floz. Please, go out and get an actual unit of measurement when it comes to measuring out food for your animals, because giving your dog “two cups” with the blue monster on the left is actually giving them 8 cups of food a day and would completely explain the morbid obesity being seen 🙃
I don’t know how vets stay sane. I have so much respect for you all.

Why collars and tags should not be left on dogs when you are not around.

And get rid of your flexi-leads. It’s not hard to train your dog to walk on a collar and lead.

I spent 10 years doing animal control and doing bite reports. If you understand dogs at all, the bite was rarely their fault.
