Tamar Speaks! history was taken from the Old Testament biblical Scriptures of
2 Samuel 13:1-20. The Ministry Tamar Speaks! gives a Religious "VOICE" to Survivors
of Childhood Sexual Abuse. Tamar Speaks! serves as a network of resources in the
Churches and the Communities that she serves. To address ongoing issues centered
around sexual assault and domestic violence. Tamar Speaks! " SPEAKS!" to a
liberation theology for those who have been abused to be "HEARD ." She move the
survivors of abuse beyond isolation to a "New Hope" and ultimately to
" NEW BEGINNING ".
Tamar Speaks! Chapter 2, Inc., Pastoral Care And Counseling Center was founded
on February 27,1997 and Incorporated on May 07, 1997. The program was formed by a
core group of African American Women of various backgrounds of Clergy,
professionals and as context associates for Rev. Dr. Valerie Andrews' Dissertation
at Bridge Street AWME Church.
The development of Tamar Speaks! Chapter 2, Inc., Pastoral Care and Counseling
Center is designed to provide a safe haven of confidentiality for individual and group
Pastoral Care and Counseling to address the trauma of childhood sexual abuse,
sexual assault, domestic violence and Mental Health disorders to promote a "
Holistic Healing " process for victims and survivors of abuse.
In addition, Tamar Speaks provides participates with supportive services to their
families and friends.
