We are proud to announce that Dr. Kaci Sims is an honoree for this year's Croquet & Cocktails event, hosted by the American Cancer Society - Alabama. This year's event will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2020, at The Grand Hotel- Julep Point. The American Cancer Society is fighting cancer from every angle. They are the largest private, not-for-profit funder of cancer research in the United States, investing more than $4 billion since 1946. Thanks in part to their contributions, more than 1.5 million lives have been saved in the US in the past two decades. Dr. Kaci Sims is a general surgeon working with Infirmary Surgical Specialists in Baldwin County. While she enjoys caring for all patients and surgical diseases, there is a special place in her heart for cancer patients. Like many, her family has also been touched by cancer with one grandmother being diagnosed with lymphoma and the other cervical cancer. Her grandfather passed away from metastatic lung cancer. Life is such a precious gift, and we are all here to give help and hope to others. It seems many times that hope comes from those who suffer. Dr. Sims certainly finds herself humbled by the strength and endurance of her patients and the ability to give in their own time of need. The light from within during the darkest of times can be just bright enough for others to see their own hope for the future. We are reminded that in medicine we are called to “Cure sometimes, relieve often and comfort always.” With cancer, we certainly want a cure and continue to fight for one.
